GENERAL PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF POSITION: Adjunct Faculty are hired each semester on an as-needed basis. Adjunct Faculty are responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals; and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided.p style="text-align:inherit"/pp style="text-align:inherit"/pdivJOB DESCRIPTION:divIvy Tech Community College is a community based technical college which places primary emphasis on excellence in the classroom instruction. Faculty members are expected to demonstrate and maintain competence in each of the following areas throughout their employment at the college. /div/divdivdivdivdivpbMastery of Subject Matter/b/ppDemonstrate a thorough and accurate knowledge of the field or discipline. Display an ability to interpret and evaluate theories in the field or discipline. Connect subject matter with related fields. Stay current in subject matter through professional development./ppbTeaching Performance/b/ppPlan and organize instruction in ways which maximize student learning. Employ appropriate teaching and learning strategies. Modify, where appropriate, instructional methods and strategies to meet diverse student’s needs. Employ available instructional technology when appropriate. Encourage the development of communication skills and higher order thinking skills through appropriate assignments. Communicate subject matter to students. Contribute to the selection and development of instructional materials. Support classroom efforts to promote student success./ppbEvaluation of Student Learning/b/ppEstablish and adhere to learning objectives. Develop evaluation methods which fairly measure student progress toward objectives. Evaluate and return student work to promote maximum learning. Maintain accurate records of student progress. Submit final grade rosters, grade books and attendance rosters to division administrators each semester according to established deadlines./ppbSupport of College Policies and Procedures/b/ppMeet scheduled classes in accordance with college policy. Prepare, distribute and submit syllabi approved course outlines for all assigned sections in/ppaccordance with program and divisional policies./ppMaintain confidentiality of student information. Exercise stewardship of College facilities and materials. /ppbParticipation in College, Division and Program Activities/b/ppRespond, in a timely fashion, to information requests from College, division and program spanspanadministrators. /span/span Contribute, when appropriate, to program and division curriculum development processes./pp Attend program, divisional and College meetings and events as feasible./ppbContribution to the Growth and Enhancement of College Mission and Programs/b/ppMaintain familiarity with College goals, mission and long-range plans. Contribute to planning and development processes where appropriate./p/div/div/div/divp style="text-align:inherit"/pp style="text-align:inherit"/ppbSchool of Advanced Manufacturing, Engineering amp; Applied Science Standard/b/ppA qualified full-time faculty member meets the education component of the School of Advanced Manufacturing, Engineering amp; Applied Science discipline standard through one of three routes:/pulliPossesses an earned baccalaureate or higher degree, from a regionally accredited institution in technology, engineering, engineering technology; or an earned baccalaureate or higher degree directly related to the program’s discipline, and/liliPossesses any specialized certifications required for the class being taught as indicated in the Curriculum of Record (COR), and/liliTwo years of directly related work experience that is specifically linked to the competencies listed in the Curriculum of Record (COR);/li/ulpior/i/pulliPossesses an earned baccalaureate or higher degree, from a regionally accredited institution And, possesses any specialized certifications required for the class being taught as indicated in the Curriculum of Record (COR), and/liliFive years of directly related work experience that is specifically linked to the competencies listed in the Curriculum of Record (COR);/li/ulpior/i/pulliPossesses an earned associate or higher degree, from a regionally accredited institution directly related to the program’s discipline, and/liliPossesses any specialized certifications required for the class being taught as indicated in the Curriculum of Record (COR), and/liliThree years of directly related work experience that is specifically linked to the competencies listed in the Curriculum of Record (COR)./li/ulpA qualified adjunct faculty member, including Dual Credit, Workforce Alignment, and a full-time faculty teaching outside their discipline, meets the technical course standard through one of four routes:/pulliMeets the full-time faculty discipline standard; or/liliPossesses a Department of Labor, Bureau for Apprenticeship Training recognized journeyman’s card in the discipline directly related to credentials, certifications, and competencies listed in the Curriculum of Record (COR), and in journeyman status for two years or more with experience that is specifically linked to the competencies listed in the Curriculum of Record (COR), and/liliPossesses any specialized certifications required for the class being taught as indicated in the Curriculum of Record (COR); or/liliPossesses any specialized certifications or credentials required for the class being taught as indicated in the Curriculum of Record (COR), and/lili5 years directly related work experience in the field that is specifically linked to the competencies listed in the Curriculum of Record (COR); or/liliPossesses a current Workplace Specialist License, Technology Education License (Technology and Engineering Education, Engineering and Technology Education), or CTE: Trade amp; Industrial Engineer or Manufacturing License granted by the Indiana Department of Education appropriate to course objectives and directly linked to credentials, certifications, and competencies listed in the Curriculum of Record (COR), and/liliPossesses any specialized certifications required for the class being taught as indicated in the Curriculum of Record (COR)./li/ulp/pp style="text-align:inherit"/pp style="text-align:inherit"/pp style="text-align:left"spanIvy Tech Community College is an accredited, equal spanspan class="WLU2"opportunity/affirmative/span/span action employer.
