This position requires a highly skilled individual with a strong mechanical aptitude, a working knowledge of welding standards and procedures, and the ability to read and interpret blueprints. Work is performed in a dynamic shipyard environment, often at heights or in confined spaces./ppstrongEssential Duties and Responsibilities/strong/pul type="disc"liPerform welding operations using SMAW, Flux Core, TIG, and MIG processes/liliWeld various metals including stainless steel, copper-nickel, HY80, and aluminum/liliInterpret and work from blueprints and weld symbols/liliEnsure welds meet quality and structural integrity standards; inspect for defects or flaws/liliMaintain and operate welding equipment safely and efficiently/liliPerform pre- and post-weld activities such as cutting, grinding, and smoothing welds/liliUse power tools such as angle grinders, die grinders, and needle scalers/liliWork in confined spaces and at heights following all safety protocols/liliMaintain cleanliness and organization in work areas/liliAssist with general shipyard duties as assigned/liliTroubleshoot equipment issues and perform basic maintenance/liliAdhere to project deadlines and ensure timely completion of tasks/li/ulpstrongQualifications and Education Requirements/strong/pul type="disc"liHigh school diploma or equivalent required/liliMinimum 7 years of welding experience in a shipyard or related industry/liliTechnical training or apprenticeship preferred but not required/liliAbility to obtain ABS certification within 60 days of employment/liliOSHA 10 certification preferred/liliFamiliarity with ABS codes and standards required; NAVSEA standards preferred/liliProficient in welding techniques including SMAW, Flux Core, TIG, and MIG/liliAbility to weld a variety of metals as specified above/liliStrong understanding of job site safety and ability to complete company-specific safety orientation/liliMust be able to work any shift as required/liliExcellent hand-eye coordination and attention to detail/liliStrong problem-solving skills and ability to follow instructions/li/ulpstrongLanguage Skills/strong/pul type="disc"liAbility to read and comprehend simple instructions, correspondence, and memos/liliAbility to write basic reports or documentation/liliAbility to present information effectively to coworkers, supervisors, or clients/li/ulpstrongMathematical Skills/strong/pul type="disc"liBasic math skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using U.S. standard units/li/ulpstrongPhysical Demands/strong/pul type="disc"liAbility to stand, walk, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and talk or hear regularly/liliAbility to lift, push, and pull up to 100 lbs occasionally and up to 20 lbs frequently/liliAbility to work at various heights and in confined spaces/liliAbility to use personal protective equipment (PPE) in compliance with OSHA standards/liliMust have manual dexterity and grip strength to operate tools and equipment/li/ulpstrongWork Environment/strong/pul type="disc"liExposure to wet/humid conditions, mechanical parts, outdoor elements, extreme temperatures, fumes, and toxic or caustic chemicals/liliWork performed in loud, high-paced environments, often in tight or elevated areas/liliMust be comfortable working in confined spaces for extended periods/li/ulpstrongBoston Ship Repair is an Equal Opportunity Employer./strong All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, or national origin./ppnbsp;/p/div/div
