pstrongPosition Summary:/strongnbsp;/p pThe Class B Lineman Transmissionnbsp;is a semi-skilled position in the construction, maintenance and repair of electrical transmission systems. This position works at various locations. The position may also be required to travel to another state depending on customer demands./p pnbsp;/p pstrongEssential Functions:/strong/p ul liWork safely while performing new construction, maintenance or repair work of energized and de-energized transmission work./li liStringing overhead wire./li liSetting poles and anchors./li liTroubleshooting problems on transmission systems./li liFrequently works with energized high voltage systems requiring skill and care to protect the lives of themselves and others./li liMaintains company vehicles, equipment and tools in good working order./li liDoes all other related work as required to complete the job./li liAble to perform rigorous physical labor./li liAble to identify transmission primary and secondary voltage on a circuit./li liMust be familiar with induced voltage./li liUnderstands all concepts of grounding procedures./li liUnderstands proper use of phasing sticks./li liAble to obtain knowledge of bare hand work 44KV and 100KV./li liUnderstands the requirements for proper line clearances./li liAble to identify wire sizes./li liProficient in Pole/Tower Climbing./li liProficient in all aspects of heaving lifting and rigging./li liPossesses a working knowledge of grounding techniques./li liCapable of safely setting a pole./li liCapable of operating wire tensioner equipment./li liAble to change pole framing and insulators with line energized from hooks or bucket./li liProficient at operation of side loader, bucket and derrick./li liProficient in understanding and reading blueprints./li liUnderstands equipment set up and grounding./li liCapable of working at heights and/or confined spaces./li liCapable of properly installing and removing PPE and cover up./li liCapable of checking voltage on transformers./li liCapable of clipping in transmission conductor./li liMust be able to climb different types of structures (wood, steel, etc.) and possess the necessary tools to do so./li liUnderstands grounding procedures./li liUnderstands how to phase out a line using phasing sticks./li liUnderstands how to obtain a one shot on a recloser./li liUnderstands minimum approach distance./li liUnderstands flag and tag procedures./li liCapable of performing basic bucket rescue/escape./li liMust be able to effectively conduct a pre-job or tailgate briefing./li liCapable of safely installing and removing mechanical jumpers./li liAble to properly inspect rubber goods, cover and PPE./li liMust be able to work outside, frequently in inclement weather./li /ul pstrongMinimumnbsp;Requirements:/strong/p ul li3-year minimum of field experience./li liAble to read and communicate effectively in English./li liAble to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License permit within 60 days of employment./li liA Commercial Driver’s License is preferred./li liAble to travel long distances on short notice, when required./li liAble to work for extended periods in various locations, when required./li liAble to lift in excess of 50 lbs./li liAble to properly inspect rubber goods and PPE./li liWilling to work over-time when requested./li liWillingness to glove/work high voltage transmission lines./li liWilling to work outside of the normal work schedule including weekends, holidays, and overtime as required for the position./li /ul pstrongPhysical Demands:/strongbr/The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job./p pWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to fingers, handle to feel; and reach with hands and arms./p pstrongWork Environment:/strongbr/While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.
