OPS Library AssistantTallahassee State College (TSC), recently recognized as one of the Most Promising Places to Work in Community Colleges for 2025, is excited to announce a part-time opening for the position of OPS Library Assistant in the TSC Library. We’re looking for someone who shares our commitment to fostering a vibrant campus community.
What You’ll Do
As an OPS Library Assistant, you will provide excellent customer service to TSC students, faculty, staff and the community in the main TSC Library. This may include but is not limited to providing directional assistance to resources across the college in person and over the telephone, charging and discharging library materials using the ALMA library management system, maintaining patron records, and assisting with minor technology issues such as printing. This position will also be responsible for maintaining library collections including shelving, straightening, shelf reading, shifting and cleaning.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday; 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM.

Who We’re Looking For
We’re seeking a candidate who brings not only technical expertise but also a passion for education and student success. Our ideal candidate will have:
Graduation from a standard high school or equivalency diploma
Previous library experience, experience in a post-secondary educational environment, customer service experience especially on a service desk, and technology skills are preferred.
Knowledge of good customer service practices such as greeting and directing visitors, phone etiquette, and other effective interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in computer skills such as email, Microsoft Office software, internet searching, and the ability to troubleshoot various hardware including printing.
Ability to show discretion and good judgment in handling confidential matters. Ability to master shelving using the Library of Congress Classification system. Ability to effectively handle multiple priorities, sometimes under busy conditions. Ability to demonstrate effective verbal and written interpersonal communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
