Registration & Scheduling Coordinator's at the Wexner Medical Center are experts in product, process, or service line areas such as:
- Physician appointment scheduling
- OR/admission
- Full-service scheduling; pre-registration and registration
- Insurance verification
- Patient liability determination and communication
This position is responsible for providing consumers such as clinical staff and patients, with accurate, up-to-date information regarding products, services, and general procedures. Scheduling & Registration Coordinators will also be responsible for:
- Scheduling return appointments and/or other appointments as assigned.
- Assuring accurate appointment, demographic and insurance information is gathered to support clinical and financial needs including changes to insurance or other patient information.
- Providing support to physicians and consumers by coordinating their requests.
- Solving routine and complex customer problems and will be able to instruct them on where to address specific questions.
- Communicating regularly with clinical staff, medical secretaries, and staff within the product/service line to ensure customer and department staff needs are met.
We ask that our Scheduling & Registration Coordinators always contribute a positive first impression to each patient and family care member that walks through the door. To excel in this position, we ask that you be able to use a variety of software packages which include the Electronic Medical record, scheduling and registration systems, ABN, eligibility, document management software, etc.
Required Qualifications
We aim to continue the high-quality work that we pride ourselves on and ask that anyone interested in this position have a High School Diploma or GED. PC knowledge and interpersonal, verbal, and written communication is recommended as well as a minimum of six months of experience in customer service or a healthcare environment. Experience with Windows, Excel, and Intranet/internet navigation tools, medical terminology, coding, and third-party reimbursement experience is preferred.
Additionally, we ask you to have the following:
- Ability to work in multiple systems for assigned tasks, management and reporting.
- Strong problem-solving and presentation skills.
- High level of customer service skills.
- Able to prioritize and coordinate multiple tasks in a lively environment.
