Job Description
Reporting to CFAES Agricultural Operations Directors at Wooster and Waterman, the Financial Operations Coordinator 2 provides comprehensive fiscal support to various Agricultural Operational units within the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences (CFAES). This position supports the following units: CFAES Wooster Farm Operations, Wooster Feed Mill, Waterman Agricultural and Natural Resources Laboratory, Chadwick Arboretum, and other units as assigned.

This position operates on a hybrid work schedule based in Columbus, combining both on-site and remote work arrangements including 3 days in the office and up to 2 days remote.


The position provides financial support services to agricultural operations directors, superintendents, managers, and staff.The position also works closely and takes direction from the CFAES Operations Cost Center Manager regarding OSU fiscal policy compliance and standard operating procedures.

Financial Transactions and Processing

  • Initiates purchase requisitions, supplier Invoice payment requests, Pcard expense reports, new supplier paperwork with OSU Vendor Maintenance, spend authorizations (travel requests) and expense reimbursements.

  • Prepares quotes and invoices for internal Customers.

  • Processes Interdepartmental Billing (agricultural services, fuel and supply reimbursements, greenhouse/field space use charges.

  • Vendor Invoice submissions and vendor payment tracking.

  • Resolution of invoice match exceptions with CFAES Service Center and OSU accounts payable.

  • Coordinates EFT/ACH deposits with Ag Operations Staff.

  • Monitors expense categories for correct coding.

Card and Asset Management

  • Serves as department Pcard manager and cost center asset tracking specialist (CCATS).

  • Initiates asset tags, disposals, and annual asset compliance paperwork for assigned units.

Reporting and Reconciliation

  • Assists Cost Center Manager with monthly financial reconciliation.

  • Prepares journal entries and accounting adjustments as needed.

  • Reconciles deposits in conjunction with other Fiscal Staff in CFAES Operations.

  • Tracks commodity sales, receipts, and transfers.

  • Prepares external customer invoices with Bursar’s Office.

  • Reviews supplier invoices and prepares change orders as needed.

Feed Mill Operations Support

  • Procures feed ingredients, commodities, and supplies for feed mill operation.

  • Performs weekly data entry of feed inventory purchases, withdrawals, and cost changes.

  • Summarizes and reconciles weekly and monthly inventory reports.

  • Bills internal and external feedmill customers monthly.

Customer Service and Support

  • Performs high level of customer service to Wooster, Columbus and Statewide Campus operations including both internal and external customers.

  • Responds to manager requests for financial information and assists in preparing documents for financial processes.

  • Advises managers and staff regarding University and college procurement policies and processes.

Cross-Unit Support and Onboarding

  • Serves as back-up fiscal associate to other units when required.

  • Provides on-boarding support of new department hires/students, paperwork facilitation, key tracking and department specific process training.

Policy Adherence and Documentation

  • Follows university purchasing and college finance office policies and procedures.

  • Maintains fiscal documentation and files.

Meetings and Travel

  • Attends regular department and college finance meetings related to work progress and fiscal process.

  • Occasional day-travel to (TBD) Campus and Statewide Research Stations.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Assists with department events, other office functions and duties as assigned.

  • Position is eligible to be performed either on campus, via telework, or combination

Required Experience

High school diploma required. Additional certification or vocational training is a plus. Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience required; 2–4 years preferred. Strong attention to detail, excellent communication and collaboration abilities, proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, Access, Teams, OneDrive).

Desired Experience

Bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration, or an equivalent, knowledge of agricultural terminology, concepts, previous work experience in agriculture or ag business. Experience with Workday.

Pay Range: $18.37 - 23.99/ hour

The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, unit’s available budget, and the candidate’s qualifications
