SUMMARY:
Report to the CEO, the Lab Manager will be based in Galion, Ohio and will be active in a wide range of
processes key to the daily operations and success of the inorganic glass / ceramic ink's product lines. Procedures and duties will include but are not limited to formulating custom color matches to customers' specifications, prepare samples, test raw materials, develop ink formula's that meet customer specifications, oversee production, and adhere to strict quality assurance in production batches. Communicate with customers and suppliers on a technical level as well as meet all safety and standard operating procedures with the goal of providing the best quality and service.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:
General Management
1) Determines the best mix and texture of the ink
2) Responsible for mixing and staging inks
3) Custom color matching to client specifications
4) Regularly print samples of ink for both quality control and custom color matching
5) Adjusts inks as needed to pass quality control inspections
6) Formulates pantone/custom colors and records all formulas in laboratory record books
7) Maintains physical samples of all batches of color and formulas for standard quality control
8) Reviews daily production schedule and production status to ensure timely preparation and staging of inks
9) Supervisor operations team
10) Reviews job tickets to verify ink components are available and used as specified
11) Processes ink returns and provides suggested adjustments to meet color standards when needed
12) Perform advanced and non-routine product and application analysis using a variety of techniques
13) Perform maintenance, calibration and troubleshooting of instruments used to perform the tests
14) Assist with troubleshooting
15) Communicating with customers about their needs and requirements
16) Must be able to work the schedule of customer demands which may include some overtime when needed
17) Assist in production or other areas as needed
18) Leads, recommends, and supports implementation of new technology, processes, and materials to provide cost reductions, improve safety, meet customer requirements, and increase market growth.
19) Maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing organization and ISO standards.
20) Contributes to team effort by accomplishing goals and communicating all related tasks/assignments as needed.
Sales
21) Performs visit to customers and potential customers in the surrounding area to maintain customer satisfaction and increase revenue growth of all products and services.
22) Represent Schilling Inc. externally in professional societies and associations
Facilities & Safety Management
23) Ensures operation of equipment by coordinating preventative and/or repairs with maintenance department and/or outside venders.
24) Carries out and enforces all safety/environmental policies established by Schilling Inc. which also includes being certified in the OHSHA 30-hour course and all necessary follow up.

25) Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's Degree in Materials Science, Inorganic Chemistry, or other related fields
- 5+ years previous general lab experience or equivalent
- Ability to travel up to 15%
- Knowledge of ceramic ink manufacturing processes.

a. Close vision, distance vision, color acuity and the ability to adjust focus.
b. Must have good judgment of color required for Color Hue evaluation
2) Ability to pass color test
3) Proficient in Microsoft Office 365.

7) Good interpersonal skills
8) Be able to use analytical processes (appraise a situation, develop supporting plans, make decisions, generate innovative ideas, analyze and troubleshoot operational problems); Six Sigma training a plus Working knowledge of chemical/industrial equipment function, design, and regulatory requirements and Process Safety Management and ISO systems and procedures
9) Advanced technical skills able to present, teach, trouble shoot technical concepts; provide customers with hands on technique using our products.
10) Excellent at problem solving.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
· Work regular business hours.
· Some extended work hours will apply depending on demand of customers and the flow of work.
· Normally based in an office or on the production floor.
· Occasional travel locally or nationally to meet with customers, sales team and team members as well as suppliers.
Compensation details: 50000-100000 Yearly Salary
