Job Summary:

The Fine Motor Grading Specialist is a highly skilled professional responsible for operating a motor grader to achieve precise grading and leveling of surfaces in road construction, infrastructure projects, and related activities. This role requires exceptional attention to detail, a keen eye for subtle variations in terrain, and a deep understanding of grading specifications to produce accurate and high-quality results.

Key Responsibilities:

· Precise Grading Operations:

o Operate motor graders to spread and level dirt, gravel, and other materials to exact grade specifications.

o Perform fine grading of aggregate to tolerances suitable for pavement base.

o Shape and finish shoulders and slopes with precision.

o Read and interpret grading plans, ensuring adherence to specifications and safety standards.

· Equipment Operation and Maintenance:

o Operate and maintain motor graders and auxiliary equipment in a safe and efficient manner.

o Perform daily equipment inspections and routine maintenance tasks (e.g., greasing, oil changes, blade changes) to ensure optimal operational status.

o Troubleshoot equipment problems and make minor repairs as necessary.

· Collaboration and Safety:

o Work closely with construction crews to ensure accurate grading and leveling.

o Coordinate machine actions with other activities, positioning or moving loads in response to signals from crew members.

o Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain a safe work environment at all times.

o Take action to avoid potential hazards or obstructions, such as utility lines, other equipment, other workers, or falling objects.

· Record Keeping and Communication:

o Maintain accurate and detailed records of equipment usage and maintenance.

o Communicate effectively with project supervisors, crew members, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.

o Prepare reports on activities and problems encountered as required.

Qualifications:

· Proven experience as a motor grader operator, demonstrating expertise in fine grading techniques.

· Ability to read and understand grade stakes, blueprints, and engineering specifications.

· Strong mechanical aptitude for performing routine equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.

· Excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial reasoning skills.

· High level of safety awareness and commitment to adhering to safety protocols.

· Ability to lift up to 80 pounds occasionally and 42 pounds frequently.

· Ability to perform physical labor such as blade changing and culvert installation.

· Must pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening

Working Conditions:

· This position requires working outdoors in various weather conditions, including extreme temperatures.

· Exposure to noise, dust, and vibrations associated with heavy equipment operation is expected.

· The role involves prolonged periods of sitting and operating equipment, as well as physical labor and the ability to lift heavy objects.
