Job Description
Carolina Energy Systems is a professional generator installer serving Western North Carolina and Upstate South Carolina. To help the company’s growth objectives we are looking for a team-oriented Generator Technician who enjoys working on new challenges every day.
We are seeking to hire a full time generator technician to join our team who is responsible for performing basic maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair tasks on residential and light commercial generators. This entry-level position involves assisting senior technicians, conducting routine inspections, and ensuring generators operate efficiently. Training will be provided to develop technical skills and industry knowledge.
Responsibilities:
Perform routine maintenance services, including oil changes, filter replacements, and battery checks.
Conduct basic diagnostics to identify common generator issues.
Assist senior technicians with repairs and installations.
Test generator performance to ensure proper functionality.
- Maintain accurate records of services performed and customer interactions.
Follow safety protocols and industry best practices.
Provide excellent customer service by explaining basic maintenance procedures and answering client questions.
Keep work areas clean and organized.
Attend training sessions to improve technical knowledge and certifications.
On-Call & Emergency Response
Participate in the on-call rotation for emergency service requests.
Respond to power outages, system failures, and urgent generator issues.
Training and Development:
- Continuously improve technical knowledge of generator systems, electrical systems, and relevant tools through ongoing training and certification programs.
- Stay informed about new technologies and advancements in the generator industry to apply best practices in all work.
Qualifications and Skills
High school diploma or equivalent (Technical certification in diesel engines, electrical systems, or generators is a plus).
Basic mechanical and electrical knowledge.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Willingness to learn and follow instructions from senior technicians.
Good communication and customer service skills.
Ability to lift heavy equipment and work in various weather conditions.
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Compensation and Benefits:
Base Hourly Rate: $18.00 - 30.00 per hr. depending on experience.
Overtime Rate: 1.5 times the base rate for anytime over 40 hours.

Employees will be assigned a service vehicle after they meet the requirements / training to begin performing work on their own.
Carolina Energy Systems has 2 locations. One is located in Penrose, North Carolina and the other in Greenville, South Carolina. This job is located at the Penrose office although there will be travel to both locations.
