The UCA coordinates the Unit Communication Center through issue identification, prioritization, decision-making, resource identification, time management and efficient work practices. Responsibilities include hospital client/guest relations; effective intra and interdepartmental communications; the accurate evaluation, organization and dissemination of information to the patient care team; maintenance of the health care information and records; the protection of patient privacy as it relates to health care records and information; maintenance of information technology and communication equipment in the Unit Communication Center; the integration of new information technology into the current practices and the provision of services that support the delivery of excellent
patient care. The UCA provides these support services under the direction of the Registered Nurse in charge and in collaboration with other members of the patient focused care team.
