About the Role:
In anticipation of future government awards, GiaCare Inc. is now accepting applications for Diagnostic Radiological Medical Physicists to support Fort Belvoir Community Hospital (FBCH) in Fort Belvoir, Virginia.
Education and Experience:
- Hold a Doctor of Philosophy Degree (PhD) a Doctorate (Ph.D.) degree with concentration in Medical Physics from an accredited college or university.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience performing medical physics/health physics services, including medical physics services in mammography
Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Posses board certification form the American Board of Radiology (ABR) in Diagnostic Radiological Physics or meet the Medical Physicist’s qualification requirements of the Food and Drug Administration as outlined in Title 21 Code of Federal Regulation Part 900.12(a)(3).
Duties:
Perform acceptance testing, calibration, and periodic surveys on imaging systems including CT, MRI, ultrasound, mammography, C-arms, fluoroscopy, and general radiographic units.
Maintain quality control and quality management programs across digital radiology (DR), PACS, and mammographic services in compliance with FDA, JC, and DoD regulations.
Participate in procurement evaluations, prepare technical comparisons, and assist with vendor selection and equipment specifications.
Train residents and technologists on medical physics concepts and new technologies; support staff orientation and education initiatives.
Provide reports and recommendations to the Chief, Department of Radiology; notify leadership of equipment deficiencies or changes in usage status.
Participate in multidisciplinary teams, QA initiatives, and mandatory training sessions.
Support documentation and reporting for inspections, licensing, and audits.
Maintain physical and mental readiness for duty; comply with JTR guidelines when traveling to perform surveys or attend conferences.
Follow all standard operating procedures and local protocols while ensuring HIPAA and safety compliance.
Communicate effectively with clinical and technical staff to resolve equipment issues and provide physics expertise.
Participate in rotational and emergency response as needed.
