Position Overview\n

We are seeking an experienced Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) to join a fast-paced, high-acuity Labor & Delivery/OB unit. The ideal candidate should have strong high-risk obstetric experience, excellent assessment skills, and the ability to work independently in a busy environment.

\n

This position requires a confident L&D RN who is comfortable managing high-risk OB patients, performing comprehensive assessments, and caring for patients undergoing C-sections.

  • 5 triage/inpatient beds

  \n

  \n

• EMR: Meditech and GE
\n
• Nurses are required to document in both systems
\n
• Patient Ratios: Follow AWHONN guidelines
\n
• Scrubs: Provided by the hospital
\n

• BSN – Required
\n
• BLS – Required
\n
• ACLS – Required
\n
• NRP – Required
\n
• RN-C – Preferred
\n

Required Experience & Skills\n

\n
• Strong high-risk L&D experience – Required
\n
• Experience caring for high-risk OB patients
\n
• Strong clinical assessment skills
\n
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
\n
• Ability to perform comprehensive patient assessments independently
\n
• Experience with C-section patients
\n
• Strong triage and labor-management skills
\n
• Excellent communication and customer-service skills
\n

Patient Population\n

The unit cares for a variety of obstetric patients, including:

\n

\n
• High-risk OB patients
\n
• C-section patients
\n
• Antepartum patients
\n
• Magnesium Sulfate patients
\n
• Laboring patients requiring close monitoring
\n
• Triage/inpatient OB patients
\n

\n

Low-risk antepartum patients are managed on the OB side rather than the L&D side, while Magnesium Sulfate patients are managed on L&D.

Surgical & Procedural Experience\n

\n
• C-sections are performed on the unit
\n
• RN experience with C-section patients is required
\n
• Nurses perform their own patient examinations and full assessments
\n
• IUPC insertion is not performed by RNs in this department
\n

Staffing & Support\n

\n
• Charge Nurse: Generally does not take a patient assignment
\n
• Unit Leader available approximately 3 days per week
\n
• Nurse aide support available
\n
• Scrub Techs available to assist with procedures
\n
• IV Team: No
\n
• Respiratory Therapy: 24/7
\n
• Pharmacy: 24/7
\n
• Hospitalist/Intensivist coverage available in-house approximately 3 nights per week
\n

Schedule\n

\n
• Shift: Nights
\n
• Weekend Requirement: Every 3rd weekend
\n
• Weekend Commitment: 3 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule
\n
• For night shift, weekend coverage is Friday and Saturday nights
\n

Floating Requirements\n

Travelers may be asked to provide support in:

\n

• OB
\n
• Nursery
\n

\n

Floating will generally be task-based, and travelers will not be assigned their own patient load while floating.

Orientation\n

\n
• Unit-specific orientation: Approximately 2–3 shifts
\n

Parking & Vaccination Requirements\n

\n
• Parking costs a minimum of $1.25 per hour
\n
• Flu vaccination is required
\n
• No exemptions or exceptions are accepted for the flu vaccine requirement
\n
