  • The staff Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver responsible for a group of patients during a designated time frame, providing care via the nursing process, nursing trends, technology, financial and human resources within the institution's philosophy.

  • Performs all responsibilities and duties required by the unit specific to the scope of service.
  • \n
  • Implements procedures and theories related to the specific area of practice.
  • \n
  • Maintains up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care for integration by the healthcare team.
  • \n
  • Completes initial assessment upon patient admission and develops appropriate plan of care based on patient and family needs.
  • \n
  • Implements plan of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures.
  • \n
  • Modifies plan of care based on continuous evaluation.
  • \n
  • Takes responsibility for patient and employee safety by reporting and/or correcting safety hazards and incidents.
  • \n
  • Communicates directly and privately when necessary to resolve issues.
  • \n
  • Offers constructive feedback to assist in professional development of peers and confers with colleagues to expand knowledge.

  • Identifies own learning needs and initiates appropriate solutions.

  • Fulfills all departmental competency requirements.

  • Department specific functions include providing care to inpatient obstetric patients, monitoring fetal well-being, administering medication specific to obstetric patients, providing patient education specific to obstetric population, and participating in intrapartum care of patient and newborn in labor, delivery, and surgical delivery.

    \n Job Requirements\n

  • Minimum three (3) years of relevant nursing experience.
  • \n
  • Illinois state RN License in good standing.
  • \n
  • BLS (American Heart Association) certification.
  • \n
  • ACLS (American Heart Association) certification.
  • \n
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification.
  • \n
  • Required education: ASN.
  • \n
  • Preferred education: BSN.
  • \n

    \n Schedule Information\n
    \n
  • Night shift.
  • \n
  • Shift hours: 7:30pm to 7:00am.
  • \n
  • 12 hours per day.
  • \n
  • 36 hours per week.
  • \n
\n

    \n Unit Specific Information\n
    \n
  • Unit: Labor and Delivery (L&D).
  • \n
  • Provides care to inpatient obstetric patients.
  • \n
  • Monitors fetal well-being.
  • \n
