pDescription/ppstrongOverview of Position:/strong Alpine Race Team Coaches work with a group of athletes throughout the course of the season developing a strong foundation of skiing skills and fundamentals, preparing them for competitive ski racing. Prior racing or coaching experience is preferred but not required. Training is provided and professional education and certification through PSIA or USSS may be supported./ppbr//ppstrongJob Responsibilities and Duties:/strong/pulliUtilize modern teaching and coaching methods and tactics in alignment with the Alpine Skiing Fundamentals and consistent with PSIA, USSS, and the direction of the Race Program Director/liliExecute all coaching assignments as based on program needs/liliDemonstrate strong decision-making skills regarding on-mountain safety including appropriate terrain selection, and effective group management in varying on-snow training environments/liliDevelop relationships with athletes and co-workers based on mutual trust to establish and accomplish athlete training goals/liliFoster an effective coaching environment for athletes/liliPromote play, experimentation, and exploration of skills and mountain terrain appropriatelynbsp;/liliAdhere to all WMC Racing policies and procedures particularly as it relates to guest and employee safety/liliAssist in setting up and tearing down equipment in training environments/liliParticipate in all assigned development training sessions and utilize provided resources to independently develop skills and knowledge/liliFulfill a season long coaching commitment/liliOther duties as needed/li/ulpbr//ppstrongJob Qualifications: /strongnbsp;/pulliMust be an advanced level skier/liliMust have a strong understanding of the Alpine Responsibility Code/liliDemonstrated ability to instruct, preferably within a competitive sports setting/liliPrevious racing or coaching experience preferred/liliPhysical Requirements/liliMust be able to regularly and consistently move equipment or people weighing up to 50 poundsnbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;/liliMust be able to observe and identify potential hazards and obstacles including but not limited to: safe trail and traffic merging, appropriate lift riding, changing snow conditions, and avoidance of other people and obstaclesnbsp;nbsp;/liliMust be able to safely walk, hike, ski or snowboard, and navigate uneven terrain with snow and ice-covered hills and surfacesnbsp;nbsp;nbsp;/liliMust be able to ski or snowboard comfortably and safely on green and blue terrain up to 6 hours per day in any outdoor winter weather conditions/liliAbility to push, pull, stoop, kneel, and reach regularly/li/ulpbr//ppbr//ppstrongWork Schedule and Conditions:/strong This is a part-time seasonal position on weekends and holiday periods from mid-December through mid-March, with the possibility of full-time work for the right candidate./ppbr//p
