A Heavy Equipment Mechanic at this level will have the skills needed to perform the work involved in the maintenance, repair, diagnostics, and operate heavy-duty vehicles and mobile equipment which have utility systems or special hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, electrical, or electronic systems, attachments, features, or controls designed for such purposes as construction, earth moving, logging, grinding, screening, loading, and comparable industrial or special applications. Knowledge of how heavy-duty machinery, engines, parts, and systems work; ability to detect faulty items, determine causes of malfunction, and determine the best repair methods; and skill to assemble, disassemble, repair, or modify components and systems. The ability to weld and fabricate; knowledge of and ability to use a computer; ability to use and care for related tools and equipment; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions;
