We are searching for people with a positive outlook and strong work ethic to become part of the UTLX success story./pp/ppbJob Description:/b/ppspanThe Lead Railcar Technician conducts all aspects of repair and maintenance on railcars. This person must demonstrate good leadership and team skills while being a safety-conscious person./span spanWill also be responsible for providing quality and safety training, along with monthly safety meetings with customers and site personnel. /span/pulliSome travel may be required/liliTank Qualification experience is a plus/lilispanUnderstand and perform all work outlined under Supervision/span/lilispanConduct railcar inspections to ensure cars comply with all FRA, AAR, and customer requirements/span/lilispanPerform repairs as necessary while always using current safety and quality standards and repair procedures/span/liliPerform mechanical repairs to railroad freight cars including tank and hopper cars when required/liliOccasionally performing welding repairs when needed/liliCoordinate and complete repairs in an efficient manner and within assigned hours/liliMaintain work area in a neat and orderly manner and report potential hazards./liliNotify supervision of any materials and/or equipment required to ensure completion of job tasks/liliInteract well with team members and supervisor/lilispanMeet the expectations and requirements of all customers to ensure we deliver a best-in-class customer experience/span/lilispanEnsure all necessary invoicing, inspection, and work order information is accurate and complete/span/lilispanActively participate in safety assessments and equipment inspections/span/lilispanFollow all safety rules and practices/span/lilispanMay be involved in safety committees or initiatives/span/lilispanFill in for Supervisor duties when out/span/lilispanAssist with internal and external audits/span/lilispanOrdering parts, receiving PO’s and inventory management/span/lilispanPerform other duties as assigned/span/li/ulp/ppbGeneral Requirements:/b/pullibMust hold RT3 / RT3F certifications at minimum which includes Air Brake Testing (ABT) and Designated Inspector (DI)/b/lilibMust have completion of TM-02/TM-03 Quality Training/b/lilibHigh school diploma or GED required./b/lilibMust hold a Valid Driver’s License/b/liliDemonstrate job-related knowledge including following written instructions/liliDemonstrate an ability to safely operate machinery including, but not limited to large work vehicles, which may also pull trailers from time to time, and forklifts/liliBe dependable and reliable to show up for scheduled work shifts including any overtime/liliAbility to learn basic railcar knowledge/liliProficiency with the use of basic hand and power tools/liliAbility to learn basic knowledge of how to read Engineering drawings/liliAbility to pass DOT Requirements is a plus/liliAbility to perform confined space entry or monitoring and create hot work permits/liliAbility to pass any required NDT disciplines and function specific certifications, which may include tank car welding, and demonstrates strong familiarity with AAR rules and regulations/liliAbility to obtain all of the certifications required for Railcar Tech Level 5: Timeline and required test depend on specific location/liliAny type of welding/mechanical experience or railcar knowledge is preferred/liliMust be legal to work in the United State now and in the future without sponsorship requirements/li/ulp/ppbPhysical Requirements:/b/pulliMust be able to stoop for extended periods and routinely move from kneeling to standing positions/liliMust be able to lift up to 50 pounds from the ground surface/liliMust be able to climb ladders and perform work at elevated heights/liliMust be able to work in confined spaces and be able to enter into a 20#34; diameter access hatch./liliMust be able to perform a FIT Test and wear a respirator/liliMust be able to pass company physical exam, drug screening and background check/li/ulp/ppbspanEnvironmental and Working Conditions:/span/b/ppThe physical environment for this job requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat or cold, wet, humid, or dry and dusty conditions. The employee may be frequently exposed to heights that require the use of fall protection equipment.
