(emApostolorum Successores /em8).nbsp; He must take care that all the affairs which belong to the administration of the whole archdiocese are duly coordinated and are ordered to attain more suitably the good of the portion of the people of God entrusted to him.rdquo; (emApostolorum Successores /em177)./span/p pspan style="color:black"Each position employed in the chancery helps to extend the ministry of the Archbishop in particular ways as outlined in the position description./span/p pnbsp;/p pspan style="font-family:Arial,sans-serif"stronguGENERAL SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL PURPOSE/u/strongstrong:/strong/span/p pspan style="font-family:Arial,sans-serif"Under the direction of the pastoral care amp; outreach director, the Catholic chaplain (i.e. pastoral care minister) provides a pastoral presence at the King County Correctional Facility in downtown Seattle and serves as a resource on criminal justice issues for local Catholic parishes and faith communities.nbsp; This is a part-time (10 hrs/week) deanery position, supported by the 4 King County deaneries and supervised by the chancery.nbsp; nbsp;/span/p pnbsp;/p pspan style="font-family:Arial,sans-serif"stronguESSENTIAL POSITION DUTIES:/u/strong/span/p ol lispan style="font-family:Arial,sans-serif"Develop and maintain a consistent and effective pastoral presence at the King County Correctional Facility through dialogue with the Department of Adult and Juvenile Detention regarding access to inmates and policies and procedures for the facilities./span/li lispan style="font-family:Arial,sans-serif"Facilitate the presence of priests for the celebration of Mass, and the Sacraments of Penance and Anointing of the Sick when appropriate./span/li lispan style="font-family:Arial,sans-serif"Coordinate and conduct appropriate liturgical services when a priest is not available./span/li lispan style="font-family:Arial,sans-serif"Engage in pastoral listening and presence with inmates as needed.nbsp; /span/li lispan style="font-family:Arial,sans-serif"Recruit and train volunteers within the assigned facility (i.e. those offering direct ministry to inmates).nbsp; /span/li lispan style="font-family:Arial,sans-serif"Facilitate bible studies, retreats, faith formation classes, RCIA processes, prayer experiences, etc. during designated Catholic activity sessions./span/li lispan style="font-family:Arial,sans-serif"Attend regular supervision meetings with the Director of Pastoral Care amp; Outreach./span/li /ol h4Qualifications/h4brpspan style="font-family:Arial,sans-serif"stronguESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:/u/strong/span/p pspan style="font-family:Arial,sans-serif"Primary:/span/p ol lispan style="font-family:Arial,sans-serif"Willingness and ability to support the mission of the Church by extending the ministry of the Archbishop and providing a pastoral presence in the assigned facility./span/li lispan style="font-family:Arial,sans-serif"Ability and desire to use God-given gifts and talents in service of the local Church in support of the collaboration between lay and ordained ministers./span/li lispan style="font-family:Arial,sans-serif"Ability to apply the Catholic faith to those affected by crime and incarceration./span/li lispan style="font-family:Arial,sans-serif"Active member of a parish/faith community in good standing with the Church./span/li /ol pnbsp;/p pspan style="font-family:Arial,sans-serif"Education:/span/p ol lispan style="font-family:Arial,sans-serif"BA degree in theology, pastoral studies, or relevant experience./span/li lispan style="font-family:Arial,sans-serif"Clinical Pastoral Education preferred./span/li /ol pnbsp;/p pspan style="font-family:Arial,sans-serif"nbsp;Experience:/span/p ol lispan style="font-family:Arial,sans-serif"At least five yearsrsquo; experience in pastoral ministry./span/li lispan style="font-family:Arial,sans-serif"Demonstrated experience in leading prayer./span/li /ol pnbsp;/p pspan style="font-family:Arial,sans-serif"Other Elements:/span/p ol lispan style="font-family:Arial,sans-serif"Ability to qualify for work in DAJD facilities. /span/li lispan style="font-family:Arial,sans-serif"Ability to work with both marginalized and diverse populations./span/li lispan style="font-family:Arial,sans-serif"Knowledge of substance abuse and its related dynamics./span/li lispan style="font-family:Arial,sans-serif"Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred./span/li /ol pnbsp;/p pnbsp;/p p style="text-align:center"emAny offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicantrsquo;s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications./em/p p style="text-align:center"emBenefits: Eligible positions receive a comprehensive package of benefits is offered including medical, dental, vision, life, accidental death and disability, long term disability, pension, 403(b), HSA, FSA, and generous sick leave, vacation and holidays./em/p
