The work is performed under the supervision of the Intake and Diversion Unit Supervisor. The principal duties of this class are performed in a general office environment and in the field./span/p pnbsp;/p pspan style="font-size: 14pt;"stronguEssential Duties and Responsibilities (will vary by assignment)/u/strong/span/p ul lispan style="font-size: 12pt;"Supervises and performs the operation and facilitation of the substance abuse education program; Families in Action, for Teens and Parents./span/li lispan style="font-size: 12pt;"Coordinates the program with school districts, law enforcement agencies, prosecuting attorneys, juvenile probation officers, diversion officers, juvenile courts, and other affected parties./span/li lispan style="font-size: 12pt;"Schedules substance abuse education classes, including notifying all affected parties./span/li lispan style="font-size: 12pt;"Works with and coordinates scheduling with the Substance Abuse Education and Prevention Assistant to facilitate substance abuse education programming./span/li lispan style="font-size: 12pt;"Represents the Department in facilitating groups, and reporting completion information to affected parties./span/li lispan style="font-size: 12pt;"Prepares, maintains, reviews, and collects data of program participants./span/li lispan style="font-size: 12pt;"Prepares and monitors program evaluation data and prepares and distributes periodic statistical reports./span/li lispan style="font-size: 12pt;"Represents the Substance Abuse Education program to the public and community groups./span/li lispan style="font-size: 12pt;"Performs all work duties and activities in accordance with County policies, procedures, and safety practices./span/li /ul pspan style="font-size: 12pt;"strongOther Duties and Responsibilities/strong/span/p ul lispan style="font-size: 12pt;"Performs other related duties as required./span/li /ul pnbsp;/p pspan style="font-size: 14pt;"stronguCompetency Requirements/u/strong/span/p pspan style="font-size: 12pt;"Knowledge of:/span/p ul lispan style="font-size: 12pt;"Behavior modification procedures, techniques, methodology, and objectives as applied to at-risk juvenile offenders./span/li lispan style="font-size: 12pt;"Federal, Idaho, and County statutes, laws, codes, and regulations governing juvenile arrest, detention, probation /parole./span/li lispan style="font-size: 12pt;"Court practices and procedures;/span/li lispan style="font-size: 12pt;"Departmental programs, policies, procedures, and operations as applied to the work performed./span/li lispan style="font-size: 12pt;"Operation of standard office equipment, including a personal computer./span/li lispan style="font-size: 12pt;"Operation of a motor vehicle./span/li /ul pspan style="font-size: 12pt;"Ability to:/span/p ul lispan style="font-size: 12pt;"Facilitate groups of 10-16 youth, and or parents/families./span/li lispan style="font-size: 12pt;"Supervise and coordinate the operations of a Substance Abuse Education Program./span/li lispan style="font-size: 12pt;"Maintain a professional demeanor during stressful, volatile, and hostile situations./span/li lispan style="font-size: 12pt;"Compile pertinent data and prepare clear, concise, and accurate reports./span/li lispan style="font-size: 12pt;"Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing./span/li lispan style="font-size: 12pt;"Establish and maintain effective working relationships with assigned offenders, supervisors, other County employees, school administrators, the public, and other County and State agencies./span/li lispan style="font-size: 12pt;"Understand and follow oral and/or written policies, procedures and instructions./span/li lispan style="font-size: 12pt;"Make sound and reasonable decisions in accordance with laws, codes, regulations and established procedures./span/li lispan style="font-size: 12pt;"Operate standard office equipment, including a personal computer and applications appropriate to assigned duties./span/li lispan style="font-size: 12pt;"Operate a motor vehicle./span/li lispan style="font-size: 12pt;"Perform a wide variety of duties and responsibilities with accuracy and speed under the pressure of time sensitive deadlines./span/li lispan style="font-size: 12pt;"Perform time management and scheduling functions, meet deadlines, and set project priorities./span/li lispan style="font-size: 12pt;"Maintain offender and Department confidentiality./span/li lispan style="font-size: 12pt;"Demonstrate integrity, ingenuity, and inventiveness in the performance of assigned tasks./span/li /ul pnbsp;/p pspan style="font-size: 14pt;"stronguAcceptable Experience and Training/u/strong/span/p ul lispan style="font-size: 12pt;"High school diploma or GED equivalency is required and a bachelor's degree in criminal justice, behavioral or social sciences, or a related filed is preferred./span/li lispan style="font-size: 12pt;"One (1) to Two (2) years experience in probation monitoring, social service, or court related behavioral services with at risk youth and families is preferred;
