Job Summary:
\n The Ultrasound Technologist is responsible for performing a variety of specialized technical tasks in Diagnostic Ultrasound utilizing high-frequency sound waves to assist medical and professional personnel in detecting anatomical abnormalities. This role involves conducting diagnostic procedures, maintaining equipment, and ensuring patient comfort and safety.
Required Qualifications:
\n • Must hold a BLS certification
\n • Knowledge of all ultrasound equipment, their function, and operation of each control
\n • Understanding of equipment and computer systems as well as the procedures for equipment service
\n • Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and physiology
\n • Knowledge of safety, infection, and disaster policy and procedures, including implementation of patient care in cases of an emergency situation
\n • Maintains CEU credits
Preferred Qualifications:
\n • 1 year of clinical experience in ultrasound
\n • Breast ultrasound imaging and scanning techniques
\n • Breast anatomy and pathology knowledge
\n • Identification of benign and malignant breast findings
\n • Image optimization and quality assurance
\n • Breast lesion measurement and documentation
\n • Targeted breast ultrasound examinations
\n • Axillary ultrasound evaluation
\n • Ultrasound-guided breast biopsy assistance
\n • Fine Needle Aspiration (FNA) procedure support
\n • Cyst aspiration procedure support
\n • Knowledge of BI-RADS® ultrasound descriptors
\n • Doppler ultrasound application
\n • Breast implant evaluation
\n • Equipment operation, calibration, and troubleshooting
\n • Infection prevention and sterile technique
\n • Patient positioning and comfort techniques
\n • EMR/Epic documentation
\n • PACS image management
\n • Digital image acquisition and archiving
\n • ACR and MQSA compliance (as applicable to breast imaging programs)
\n • Quality control and quality assurance documentation
\n • Radiation safety awareness (departmental workflow)
\n • Specimen handling and labeling (during biopsy procedures)
\n • Contrast-enhanced ultrasound knowledge (where applicable)
\n • CPR/BLS certification
\n • HIPAA compliance
\n • Medical terminology
\n • Patient assessment and history collection
Required Education:
\n • Graduate of an approved Ultrasound School
\n • 2 years training in Allied Health/College
Required Certifications & Licensure:
\n • R.D.M.S. registered
\n • Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS)
Preferred Certifications & Licensure:
\n • ARDMS, Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) with Breast (BR) specialty or equivalent breast ultrasound credential
