Salary: $20-$28 DOE

Job Summary:

The Brake Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining Auto Brakes and Double Folders to bend, shape, or form metal and other materials according to blueprints and specifications. This role plays a crucial part in the fabrication process by ensuring accurate and high-quality bending of materials. This is a second shift position working from 2:00 PM 10:30 PM.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate machines (manual, hydraulic, or CNC) to perform sheet metal bending.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, work orders, and material specifications.
  • Select appropriate tools, dyes, and machine settings for each job.
  • Measure and inspect finished pieces to ensure conformance to specifications using calipers, gauges, and measuring tools.
  • Adjust machine settings and tooling as needed to correct issues and maintain quality.
  • Perform routine machine maintenance and report mechanical issues.
  • Maintain accurate production records and logs.
  • Ensure compliance with safety procedures and company policies.
  • Collaborate with other team members in the fabrication and production departments.


Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training is a plus.
  • Previous experience operating a press brake or similar equipment (1-3 years preferred).
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings.
  • Familiarity with different types of metals and fabrication processes.
  • Strong attention to detail and mechanical aptitude.
  • Basic math skills and ability to use measuring instruments.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
  • Knowledge of CNC press brake programming is a plus.


Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed in a manufacturing environment with exposure to loud noise, dust, and metal shavings.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, safety glasses, and ear protection is required.


Opportunities for Advancement:

With experience, a Brake Operator can advance to roles such as Lead Brake Operator, Fabrication Supervisor, CNC Programmer, or Quality Control Technician.
