Laboratory Technician I Marshfield, WI
SUMMARY STATEMENT
The Laboratory Technician I will accurately prepare, conduct, and report sample analyses according to approved standard operating procedures (SOP) and quality control guidelines. This position will be responsible for ensuring testing services are conducted within anticipated laboratory turn-times.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Accurately prepare, conduct, and report sample analyses according to laboratory SOP for designated tests.
- Calibrate basic laboratory instrumentation according to laboratory SOP.
- Prepare samples and execute analysis with a high degree of accuracy to ensure quality results.
- Thoroughly complete appropriate documentation including calibration logs, solution logs, scoop / bench sheets, reports of analysis and corrective action forms.
- Report results of analysis in a timely manner according to standard laboratory turn-times.
- Perform and monitor quality control checks for designated tests to ensure they fall within acceptable thresholds.
- Assess corrective action steps for failing or inconsistent quality control checks and report to immediate supervisor.
- Perform routine laboratory procedures such as media/solution preparation, cleaning of labware and laboratory workspaces, monitor and maintain supply inventory for designated tests.
- Promote and adhere to safety in the workplace.
- Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
- Follow safe work procedures and report unsafe conditions and injuries immediately.
- Inspect own work area and take approved remedial action to minimize or eliminate hazards.
REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven organizational and time management skills.
- Detail orientated nature.
- Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office and Excel.
- Scheduling flexibility and ability to work overtime as needed based on workflow and deadlines.
- High School diploma or GED.
- 0 to 2+ years laboratory experience.
- Bending, stooping, pulling/pushing, and twisting required.
- Sitting, standing, bending, lifting, and moving consistently during working hours.
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
