We are looking for a Communications and Marketing Coordinator who will engage audiences through managing our organization's brand, social media channels, websites, and assisting with public relations, communications and messaging.

Job Summary

The Marketing and Communications Coordinator will engage audiences through managing HEF’s brand, social media channels, websites, and assisting with public relations, communications and messaging.

Essential Functions

  • Develop and lead HEF’s brand and communication strategy that elevates HEF’s visibility, communicates its mission and impact, and supports key functions including grantmaking, donor engagement, strategic initiatives, program development, and school partnerships
  • Manage the organization’s philanthropic communication efforts that include eblasts, websites and social media platforms to support fundraising and philanthropic partnership goals
  • Develop engaging, professional, brand-appropriate graphic and written content including collecting photos, videos, quotes, stories, and data
  • Represent HEF at public events, community & professional association meetings, and with key stakeholders to elevate HEF’s role as a collaborative partner
  • Oversee media strategy, including press relations, editorial content, digital storytelling, and crisis communications.
  • Support speechwriting, presentation development, and editorial writing for Development and Communications Department and CEO
  • Manage communication tools including social media platforms, and websites including HEF and Virginia Early Learning Partners
  • Optimize communication platforms to increase programmatic and fundraising engagement
  • Manage communication projects including video, photography, graphic design, and written communication for educational and promotional needs
  • Support the execution of the development strategic plans and programming as it relates to communications by developing an annual Marketing and Communications timeline that includes key messaging
  • Build and execute social media strategy through competitive research, platform determination, benchmarking, messaging and audience identification
  • Generate, edit, publish and share daily content (original text, images, video or HTML) that builds meaningful connections and encourages community members to take action
  • Moderate all user-generated content for each platform
  • Create editorial and social media PR calendars and schedules
  • Capture and analyze the appropriate social data/metrics, insights and best practices, and adjust messaging and plans as needed
  • Apply analytics and evaluation to refine communications and marketing tactics
  • Stay abreast of trends in philanthropy, community engagement, and marketing to inform strategic adjustments
  • Collaborate with other departments to manage reputation, identify key players and coordinate actions
  • Coordinates the activities of the Foundation by ensuring that deadlines and assignments are met
  • Understands and adheres to all Foundation policies and procedures and appropriately handles confidential assignments
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

Education and Experience

    • Bachelor's degree or associates degree in lieu of a 4-year degree
    • Experience managing and creating on-target branded content
    • Minimum of two years of communications and marketing experience
    • Experience with platform metrics
    • Experience working in social media marketing or digital media marketing

Benefits

  • Salary Range: $47-$53k
