We are seeking a strategic Director of Plant Maintenance & Engineering to join our accomplished executive team and lead our engineering and maintenance operations to new heights.
General Summary
The Director of Plant Maintenance & Engineering plans and coordinates all equipment and facilities repairs and maintenance. The Director is responsible for supervising maintenance functions, which are necessary to maintain continuous production operations to ensure everything runs smoothly and efficiently.
Essential Functions:
- Has overall responsibility for facilities and assets through their lifecycle, including installation, integration, implementation, and maintenance.
- Manage resources, including expense priorities, expense budgeting, facilities, asset management, and spare parts.
- Working with the Director of Project Management, develop long-term capital planning and execution plans aligned to the organization's strategy.
- Drive culture, engage staff morale, and ensure employees' safety.
- Direct team members and develop robust talent development and succession planning in alignment with functional growth strategies across the engineering organization
- Define and implement core competencies by assessing business needs and developing, proposing, and implementing solutions.
- Ensure the facility and equipment are properly maintained and comply with all OSHA regulations and Food Safety requirements established by BRC, GFSI, and AIB Standards
- Partner with cross-functional groups/resources to achieve tactical execution plans of business objectives to ensure operational excellence, risk identification, and reduction in compliance with quality, safety, and environmental standards
- Negotiate and oversee the development and execution of plans, budgets, and schedules for all facility and equipment modifications, expansions, shutdowns, infrastructure programs, lifecycle management, capacity, and upgrades in partnership with cross-functional teams. Anticipate business needs from an infrastructure standpoint and propose strategies to address them.

Compensation is based on the level of experience, other relevant experience, and the requirements of the position. The range provided serves only as a guideline and does not automatically qualify all candidates (internal or external) for the high end of the range.
Compensation Range - $130,000.00 to $155,000
Position Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a managerial role, with the oversight of a team of Maintenance managers and technicians.
- Proven track record of successfully leading and developing high-performing engineering and maintenance teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Prefer a food manufacturing or bakery environment.
- Demonstrated ability to foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Expertise in preventive maintenance programs, reliability engineering, and root cause problem-solving to minimize downtime and optimize equipment performance.
- Hands-on approach to leadership, with the ability to support, coach, and empower team members on the production floor.
- Must have electrical control experience and PLC troubleshooting experience.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including advanced Excel and manufacturing systems
- Excellent documentation and communication skills and interpersonal relationship skills, including negotiating and relationship management skills, with the ability to drive the achievement of objectives
- Expert understanding of engineering procedures while looking beyond existing methodologies and own discipline to define and resolve complex problems
- Demonstrated ability to direct teams and provide coaching and feedback, including responsibility for all employee actions, including hire/fire authority, and partnering with HR on all aspects of employee relations
- Ability to interact professionally with all organizational levels and proactively escalate issues to appropriate levels of management in the organization.
- Maintain regular, consistent attendance & punctuality. Must have a flexible schedule that may require occasional nights, weekends, and holidays. This position may support the Plant Engineering on-call program and must be available to support operations on a flexible schedule.
