Quality Manager-Food & Beverage
Richmond, Virginia- Position is on-site- no remote options available

$85-105k
The Quality Manager will oversee the implementation and adherence to food safety regulations, quality assurance procedures, and sanitation practices to ensure the highest standards of food safety and quality are maintained.

Responsibilities:
  • Create, implement, and manage Food Safety Management System (FSMS), including, but not limited to, hazard analysis, SOP, PRPs, CCP, GMPs, PMP, EMP, Chemical control, labeling, product specifications, etc.
  • Assist in the achievement of various company objectives (KPI’s) having to do with cost, productivity, customer service, profit and team members.
  • Assist in the creation, implementation, and management of key programs including Organic System Plan, Kosher program, Environmental, Worker Safety, and Fair Trade, ROC.
  • Provide technical training and coaching to all RRFR employees to ensure full understanding of expectations within the facility.
  • Liaise with external food safety inspectors and auditors and ensure all necessary documentation is prepared and available for inspections and audits (GFSI, Organic, Federal & Local government, etc.)
  • Create, implement, and manage a Corrective Action and Customer Complaint program.
  • Interface with facility team to assist in problem solving using root cause analyses when resolving daily personnel and processing incidents.
  • Continually review and improve food safety and quality processes and procedures to ensure the highest standards are maintained and in compliance with all federal, state and local food safety regulations
  • Keep up to date will all new and changing legislations and regulations.
  • Prevent product and company risk by managing nonconforming product processes, QA HOLDs, and leading corrective action programs.
  • Analyze spend to continually reduce costs.
  • Plan, promote, and organize training activities related to food safety and quality assurance.
  • Assist in other areas of the facility as necessary or needed

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Food Safety or related field with 3 years of experience in QA role in the food & beverage manufacturing industry; or Minimum of 5 years of experience in QA leadership role in the food & beverage manufacturing industry
  • Knowledge and experience with GFSI. FDA, USDA, Local health and state health regulations, and audits
  • Knowledge of preventive controls and kill steps to mitigate risks
  • Knowledge and experience with USDA NOP regulations and handling
  • PCQI Certified
  • HACCP Certified
  • Knowledge of Management Systems software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Clear and efficient communication skills – both written and verbal
  • Strong organizational skills with thorough attention to detail
  • Ability to troubleshoot and think outside of the box
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; and talk or hear. Occasionally required to sit. Frequently must squat, stoop, or kneel, reach above the head and reach forward. Daily uses hand strength to grasp tools, supplies and equipment. Occasionally climbs ladders. Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Ability to withstand cold storage temperatures for extended periods of time (warm gear provided). Noise levels will vary at time and will be loud in some areas (hearing protection will be provided when needed).
