Position Overview: We are looking for a highly skilled and dependable Heavy Equipment Mechanic with experience in site development to join our team in Newnan. In this role, you'll be responsible for maintaining and repairing a fleet of heavy construction equipment used in land clearing, grading, utility installation, and road building. This position plays a key role in keeping our field operations running efficiently and safely.

 

Key Responsibilities:

        Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair a wide range of heavy equipment used in site development, including dozers, excavators, loaders, skid steers, graders, compactors, and off-road dump trucks.

        Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and field repairs to reduce equipment downtime.

        Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using diagnostic tools and service manuals.

        Perform welding and fabrication repairs as needed.

        Keep accurate maintenance records, work logs, and inventory of parts and supplies.

        Communicate regularly with equipment operators and site supervisors to identify equipment issues and plan repairs.

        Adhere to all safety protocols and ensure equipment is operating within regulatory compliance (OSHA, DOT, etc.).

        Travel to job sites in Georgia as needed to provide field service and emergency repairs.

 

Qualifications:

        High school diploma or GED required; technical training or certification in diesel/heavy equipment mechanics preferred.

        Minimum of 3 years' experience working with heavy construction equipment, preferably in the site development industry.

        Strong knowledge of hydraulic systems, diesel engines, electrical systems, and undercarriage components.

        Ability to read and interpret schematics and service manuals.

        Valid driver's license required; CDL Class A or B is a strong plus.

        Must be able to work independently, manage time effectively, and adapt to changing priorities in the field.

        Ability to lift heavy components (50+ lbs) and work outdoors in varying conditions.

 

Preferred Experience:

        Familiarity with GPS-enabled grading equipment (e.g., Trimble or Topcon systems).

        Hands-on experience with Caterpillar, John Deere, Case, and Komatsu machines.

        Welding/fabrication certification is a plus.
