Compensation: Dependent on how many supervisees (would be a monthly stipend per provider)
About the Role:
Vivo HealthStaff is recruiting for a Mental Health Therapist Supervisor licensed in California to provide clinical supervision to pre-licensed mental health professionals. This position can be fully remote or hybrid, depending on your preference and location within California. As a supervisor, you will play a critical role in supporting the professional development of associates while ensuring ethical, evidence-based, and culturally responsive care for our clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individual and/or group clinical supervision to associate-level clinicians (AMFTs, ASWs, APCCs).
- Review and approve clinical documentation including assessments, progress notes, and treatment plans.
- Ensure supervisees meet the requirements and competencies as outlined by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS).
- Monitor supervisee caseloads and clinical performance to ensure high-quality care and adherence to legal and ethical standards.
- Assist with onboarding and ongoing training of new clinicians.
- Support supervisees in managing crisis situations, ethical dilemmas, and complex clinical cases.
- Collaborate with leadership to maintain compliance with clinical standards and program goals.
Qualifications:
- Must be currently licensed and in good standing in California as one of the following:
- Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
- Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC)
- Licensed Educational Psychologist (LEP)*
- Licensed Psychologist (licensed by the California Board of Psychology)
- Board-Certified Psychiatrist (licensed by the Medical Board of California)
*Note: LEPs must meet additional qualifications to serve as supervisors per California BBS guidelines.
- Minimum of 2 years post-licensure clinical experience required.
- Approved by the BBS (or appropriate licensing board) to provide clinical supervision.
- Strong knowledge of California laws and regulations governing mental health services.
- Experience providing supervision in community mental health, private practice, or telehealth settings is a plus.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
- Passion for mentoring and developing emerging clinicians.
