Job Description
Responsible for receiving patients, determines their needs and directs them accordingly. Performs optimal ambulatory health care to patients; stocks and maintains exam rooms and nurse’s stations.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
• Plans and manages patient care according to each patient’s needs.
• Interviews patients and records their medical history and physical condition.
• Obtains patient vital signs, including pulse, blood pressure, temperature, and respiration.
• Provides routine care for patients.
• Observes patients’ health.
• Reviews medical charts.
• Communicates with patients and their families.
• Prepares specimens for lab courier.
• Assist with patient comfort.
• Counsels patients by transmitting physician’s orders and medications refills to pharmacy and progress notes to insurance for prior authorizations.
• Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and complying with legal regulations.
• Keep supplies ready by inventorying stock, letting manager know when low, and verifying receipt.
• Serves and protects the practice by adhering to professional standards; facility policies and procedures; and federal, state, and local requirements.
Education: Vocational/Technical degree in Medical Assistant or related field.
Certification/License: Certified Medical Assistant and CPR required.
Additional Experience Preferred
• Current knowledge of clinical practice.
• Ability to operate and handle many kinds of complex equipment: copy machine, intercom system, telephones, computer and
fax machine.
• Experience in computer order entry.
• Ability to demonstrate clinical competence and maintain current knowledge in caring for adolescent through geriatric patients.
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Effectively handles frequent interruptions and distractions
