PLC/HMI Designer – Ford GVOSS Software Architecture

We are seeking an experienced PLC/HMI Designer to join a dynamic engineering team in the design, development, and implementation of Ford GVOSS software architecture. The role involves hardware verification, PLC programming, HMI development, and commissioning support to ensure high-quality automation systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, review, and implement PLC/HMI programs according to Ford standards.

  • Perform hardware design verification and troubleshoot software errors or deficiencies.

  • Work with Allen-Bradley PLCs (RSLogix 5000 / Studio 5000) for industrial automation control systems.

  • Apply knowledge of electrical controls systems and pneumatic controls systems.

  • Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and device data sheets.

  • Commission and debug complex automation systems.

  • Collaborate with Mechanical Design teams, shop trades, and customers.

  • Monitor project timelines, engineering standards, and delivery schedules.

  • Ensure compliance with customer specifications, safety regulations, and environmental guidelines.

  • Develop standardized software tools under the Software Engineering Supervisor.

  • Utilize Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for reporting and documentation.

  • Work with Windows operating systems and relevant industrial software.

  • Maintain a professional demeanor with strong communication skills and team collaboration abilities.

Required Qualifications:

  • Ford body-in-white controls experience with full knowledge of Ford PLC/HMI standards and comparison tools.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science, OR 5+ years of relevant industry experience.

  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret written, oral, and diagram-based instructions.

  • Knowledge of continuous improvement and quality systems.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in industrial automation projects within automotive manufacturing.

  • Ability to create, review, and optimize PLC code for efficiency and compliance.
