Job Description
PLC/HMI Designer – Ford GVOSS Software Architecture
We are seeking an experienced PLC/HMI Designer to join a dynamic engineering team in the design, development, and implementation of Ford GVOSS software architecture. The role involves hardware verification, PLC programming, HMI development, and commissioning support to ensure high-quality automation systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, review, and implement PLC/HMI programs according to Ford standards.
Perform hardware design verification and troubleshoot software errors or deficiencies.
Work with Allen-Bradley PLCs (RSLogix 5000 / Studio 5000) for industrial automation control systems.
Apply knowledge of electrical controls systems and pneumatic controls systems.
Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and device data sheets.
Commission and debug complex automation systems.
Collaborate with Mechanical Design teams, shop trades, and customers.
Monitor project timelines, engineering standards, and delivery schedules.
Ensure compliance with customer specifications, safety regulations, and environmental guidelines.
Develop standardized software tools under the Software Engineering Supervisor.
Utilize Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for reporting and documentation.
Work with Windows operating systems and relevant industrial software.
Maintain a professional demeanor with strong communication skills and team collaboration abilities.
Required Qualifications:
Ford body-in-white controls experience with full knowledge of Ford PLC/HMI standards and comparison tools.
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science, OR 5+ years of relevant industry experience.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret written, oral, and diagram-based instructions.
Knowledge of continuous improvement and quality systems.
Preferred Skills:
Experience in industrial automation projects within automotive manufacturing.
Ability to create, review, and optimize PLC code for efficiency and compliance.
