pstrongReports to: /strongPrincipal/p pnbsp;/p pstrongGeneral Summary:/strong The paraprofessional for EL will provide supplemental services to English Learners in the process of learning academic English in a school setting/p pstrongnbsp;/strong/p pstrongEssential Functions:/strong/p ul liSupplement services for EL students to provide English language development under the direct supervision of the EL teacher./li liSupplement services for EL students to assist with academic language in the content or grade level classroom under the direct supervision of the EL or classroom teacher./li liAssist students in adapting to a new culture./li liAssist EL students with school work to increase academic language./li liAttend EL Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) for direction and professional development./li liParticipates in staff development activities as recommended by the principal./li liOther duties as assigned by supervisor(s)/li /ul pstrongQualifications:/strong/p ul liHigh School Diploma/GED, 48 college credits or the ability to pass the ParaPro Assessment/li liAbility to work with students in an individualized, small group or classroom setting under the direct supervision of a certified teacher/li liSelf-motivated and able to prioritize and organize responsibilities./li liFluently bilingual in spoken and written Spanish and English is desirable/li /ul pstrongLength of Position: /strong180 daysnbsp;(for the school year)/p pstrongPosition Type: /strongNon-Exempt/p pnbsp;/p pemThese statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed.
