Individuals in this position must be able to successfully perform, be responsible for, and/or assist in the fulfillment of many job functions and duties, with or without reasonable accommodation.br /br /emThe following duties and responsibilities are illustrative of the primary functions of this position and are not intended to be all inclusive:/emulliCoordinates with the Recreation Coordinators and Supervisors in organizing, scheduling and supervising a variety of programs and events appropriate for different age groups./liliPrepare program materials, equipment, and other necessary items; organize related equipment; inspect equipment to insure safety and cleanliness./liliSet-up, distribute, and collect materials and equipment for programs./liliResponsible for purchasing supplies and equipment as needed./liliAssist in maintaining a variety of records and reports, including registrations, attendance, reservations, permission slips, waivers, purchases, accidents, and incidents./liliProvide coaching, guidance, and instruction to facilitate appropriate fun, safe, and supportive participation in which participants can challenge themselves during activities./liliPerform a variety of miscellaneous duties such as answering the telephone, running errands as needed./liliImmediately report all incidents, injuries and /or unsafe conditions to supervisor./liliInventory and manage program equipment and supplies including vehicles, keys, town credit card, general activity supplies, and other town-owned property./liliTake proper safety precautions, anticipate unsafe circumstances, and act accordingly to prevent accidents and injuries./liliCommunicate effectively with Recreation Coordinators and Supervisors in order to provide quality programs./liliEnforces all department policies, rules and regulations while maintaining a friendly and professional attitude./liliExercise discretion and good judgement if the supervisor is not available for advisement./liliBe available for the entire length of the program./liliDemonstrate a positive work ethic./liliWork directly with a variety of age groups in games, crafts, swimming, activities and other inventive activities./liliRepresent the town in a positive, professional and healthy manner/liliMay assist with the scheduling vendors, food trucks, and other program-related tasks for events/liliProvides exceptional guest service to all guests. Responds to information requests, comments and complaints from the public./liliActs as a liaison with vendors, contractors, and coordinators across multiple communication methods to ensure a smooth operation of events./liliSets up event supplies, such as tables, chairs, tents, event fencing, power equipment, etc. prior to events as needed; properly stores supplies after the event./liliAdhere to town policies, standards, and regulations, including but not limited to proper attire, safety procedures, and overall professionalism./liliAttends and participate in staff meetings and trainings./liliMay serve or fill in for the Recreation Coordinator in their absence./liliPerforms other duties as assigned./li/ulstrongOTHER DUTIES/strongbr /emDepending on organizational need, additional duties may include the following:/emulliThe Recreation Specialist position participates in the Shared Fleet Vehicle Program, which requires an annual motor vehicle record check./liliPerforms research as directed, such as discovering new technology or tools, market research, etc./liliPerforms related duties as established by law/ordinance or reasonably directed by the town./liliSubmit hours and an accurate time card on time and in compliance with town policies./liliGive and receive constructive criticism and feedback./liliMay be involved in special projects that are directly or indirectly related to essential job functions./liliContinue educational and certification requirements in order to remain abreast of current methods and procedures./liliAssists other town departments, as necessary./li/ul/ph2Minimum Qualifications/h2pstrong id="isPasted"EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND FORMAL TRAININGnbsp;/strongul style="margin-bottom: 3pt;"liHigh school diploma or GED./liliAssociates degree in Recreation, Physical Education, Exercise Science or related field preferred./liliPrevious two plus years of experience preferred in customer service, recreation or related field./li/ulstrongLICENSES OR CERTIFICATES/strongbrul style="margin-bottom: 3pt;"liA valid Colorado Driver's License that meets the Town of Windsor’s standards; ability to maintain throughout employment with the town./liliMust successfully complete additional post hire State and Federal screening. (CBI, FBI, amp; Trails Background Checks)nbsp;/liliCurrent CPR, AED and First Aid certifications required within 30 days of hire./li/ulstrongKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS amp; ABILITIES/strongulliAbilitynbsp;to interact with all age groups this may include instruction, communication of rules and regulations and enforcing policies./liliAbility to effectively present curriculum one-on-one and/or in group format./liliUses discretion and training to solve problems./liliDemonstrate time management skills by beginning and completing assigned shifts and/or utilizing program time effectively./liliAbility to effectively present verbal and written information and respond to questions from guests, program participants, co-workers, supervisors, volunteers, and other town employees./liliAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, peers, and town staff. Including the ability to follow directions and demonstrate professional behavior./liliAbility to remain composed in emergency situations, make sound judgment and work effectively with guests and other recreation staff under stressful circumstances. Ability to perform first aid, CPR and other medical attention as needed.nbsp;/liliAbility to safely operate all assigned tools, safety products, and kitchen equipment.
