Job Description
Summary:
The Shipping Clerk is responsible for managing and coordinating the daily shipping and receiving activities of a warehouse or distribution center. This includes preparing shipments, verifying incoming deliveries, maintaining records, and ensuring all products are packaged, labeled, and shipped accurately and on time.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and pack orders for shipment according to company standards and customer requirements.
Verify the accuracy of incoming and outgoing shipments by comparing items to packing lists, invoices, and purchase orders.
Label, weigh, and document shipments using shipping software and prepare necessary paperwork (e.g., shipping labels, bills of lading).
Load and unload delivery trucks and containers, using forklifts or pallet jacks as needed.
Conduct visual inspections of incoming goods for damage and report discrepancies or defects to supervisors.
Work closely with carriers (FedEx, UPS, freight companies) to schedule pickups and track outgoing shipments.
Maintain accurate shipping and receiving logs, inventory records, and documentation.
Ensure the shipping area is clean, organized, and adheres to safety standards.
Assist with quality control by staging items for inspection and repacking goods after approval.
Collaborate with inventory, production, and customer service teams to meet deadlines and resolve shipping issues.
