Key Responsibilities:
- Loading and Securing Cargo:
Safely loading and securing various types of equipment onto the lowboy trailer, which may include construction equipment, heavy machinery, or oversized loads.
- Transportation:
Operating the truck and trailer to transport cargo to specified locations, often construction sites or customer locations.
- Unloading:
Safely and efficiently unloading cargo at the designated destination.
- Route Planning:
Planning routes that accommodate the size and weight of the load, considering potential road restrictions and regulations.
- Compliance:
Ensuring all operations adhere to transportation regulations, including weight limits and safety procedures.
- Equipment Maintenance:
Performing routine checks and maintenance on the truck and trailer.
- Communication:
Effectively communicating with dispatchers, other drivers, and potentially construction crews.
- Manual Labor:
May be required to perform manual labor associated with loading, unloading, and securing cargo.
- Safety Compliance:
Following all safety regulations and procedures, including those related to heavy equipment and traffic.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Valid Class A CDL: A commercial driver's license with the appropriate endorsements is essential.
- Oversized Load Experience: Prior experience handling and transporting oversized loads is often required.
