Cafe Cook

As a Cook at the Polar Ice Rink, you’ll prepare concession-style and café menu items such as burgers, sandwiches, soups, breakfast options, and seasonal treats. This role includes food prep, cooking, cleaning, and working closely with front counter staff to keep things running smoothly.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and cook food items based on rink menu (grill, fryer, oven, microwave)
• Perform prep work and restock as needed for daily operations
• Ensure food quality, temperature, and portion control meet safety and quality standards
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitized kitchen
• Follow all food safety regulations (handwashing, glove use, food storage)
• Monitor inventory levels and notify supervisor of low supplies
• Support special events, tournaments, and community gatherings with bulk prep
• Assist with dishwashing and closing duties as needed

Requirements:

• Previous experience in a kitchen, food truck, or concession stand preferred
• Food Handler’s Permit (or ability to obtain upon hire)
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, sometimes cold environment
• Strong communication skills and a positive, team-focused attitude
• Must be able to stand for long periods and lift up to 40 lbs
• Willing to work weekends, evenings, and event days

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of short-order or concession-style cooking
• Familiarity with Alaskan food safety regulations
• Experience working in a recreational or seasonal venue
