Description:
The Inventory and cost Analyst has a key role responsible for maintaining the accuracy of our rock product inventory and ensuring a smooth flow of materials. This individual uses high-level Excel skills and a strong analytical mindset to optimize inventory control and support the company's financial health.
Inventory Management & Analysis
- Maintain accurate records of the company's rock product inventory (e.g., various types and sizes of crushed rock and gravel).
- Use advanced analytical skills to track incoming rock shipments from production blasts or supplier deliveries and monitor outgoing shipments to customers based on sales orders.
- Conduct regular physical inventory counts, using tools like DJI Drone at various locations, to verify on-hand stock levels against accounting records.
- Identify and resolve discrepancies between physical counts and inventory records using your problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Develop and implement efficient inventory control procedures, such as establishing minimum/maximum stock levels and reorder points, to minimize waste and shrinkage.
- Analyze inventory movement trends to forecast future demand and optimize production planning.
Database Management & Process Improvement
- Work to update and process improvements within our internal database to streamline inventory tracking and reporting.
- Leverage strong QuickBooks skills to ensure accurate financial records related to inventory.
- Research and identify the root causes of inventory discrepancies or process inefficiencies and make actionable recommendations for solutions.
Matching and Comparison
- Rely on your sharp analytical mind to match pit tickets with corresponding customer invoices, comparing customer information, dates, material types, and quantities.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with customers and internal departments to address any discrepancies.
This role is critical to ensuring efficient operations, cost control, and a clear picture of the company's financial health. Your strong analytical skills and Excel expertise will be essential in keeping our inventory operations running smoothly.
Requirements:Key Skills & Qualifications
- High-Level Excel Skills: Proven proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions, pivot tables, and data modeling, to build and maintain sophisticated spreadsheets for inventory tracking, analysis, and reporting.
- Strong Analytical Mindset: The ability to identify trends, solve complex problems, and make data-driven decisions to optimize inventory processes. This includes the skill to research root causes and recommend effective solutions.
- A solid understanding of inventory management principles (e.g., FIFO, LIFO).
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in record-keeping.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with production, sales, and accounting departments.
- Proficiency in accounting software like QuickBooks Desktop and other Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Access).
