Safely operates tools and equipment needed during the repair and servicing of equipment.
Diagnose defects and repair a variety of equipment.
Basic mechanics
Technicians are required to provide their basic tools to perform routine maintenance and repairs of equipment.
Ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities.
Ability to perform under limited supervision.
Ability to work from ladders or raised platforms
2 or more years of relevant work
Performs repairs by OSHA. (Occupational and Safety Health Act) requirements.
Performs preventive maintenance inspection (PM); diagnose, repair, and rebuild major equipment/components including but not limited to balers, conveyors, hydraulic power packs, eddy currents, electro-magnetic belts, compressors, trash compactors, motors, wire tie systems, fans, pumps.
Maintains DEI (Daily Equipment Inspections)
Establishes and adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules and advises the Plant Maintenance Manager if additional work is needed or cannot be completed within the Standard Repair Times (SRTs).
Performs service calls for emergency breakdowns.
Requires a flexible work schedule, including weekends when required.
Ability to solve complex problems with clear analytical thought, taking into account multiple factors and tradeoffs.
Ability to analyze test results, machine error messages, and information obtained from operators to diagnose equipment problems.
Ability to clean, lubricate, and adjust parts, equipment, and machinery.
Ability to examine parts for defects, such as breakage and excessive wear.
Ability to observe and test the operation of machinery and equipment to diagnose malfunctions using voltmeters and other testing devices.
Ability to operate newly repaired machinery and equipment to verify the adequacy of repairs.
Reassemble equipment after completion of inspections, testing, or repairs.
Ability to understand blueprints and manufacturers’ manuals to determine the correct installation and operation of machinery.
Ability to cut and weld metal to repair broken metal parts, fabricate new parts, and assemble new equipment.
Demonstrate equipment functions and features to machine operators
Ability to enter codes and instructions to program computer-controlled machinery.
Ability to perform additional duties as assigned.
Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate/OSHA Standards and performs all work by established safety procedures.
Other duties as assigned.
Must be able to lift or carry up to 100 lbs
Must be able to communicate verbally and written.
Must be able to remain in stationary, standing, or sitting positions for prolonged periods.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions.
