Position Summary:
Luminis Health is seeking a motivated and skilled Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our renowned Orthopedic Sports Surgery Team. This position offers a unique opportunity to work alongside a dynamic, high-performing group of surgeons and providers specializing in hip, knee, and shoulder treatment and surgery. The role includes a balance of clinic-based care and first-assist responsibilities in the operating room for elective orthopedic sports procedures.

What You'll Do:

  • Provide patient-centered care in a fast-paced orthopedic sports clinic, focusing on acute/same-day visits, pre/post-operative management, and ongoing treatment plans.
  • Serve as first assist in the operating room during elective orthopedic sports surgeries.
  • Interpret diagnostic imaging (e.g., X-rays, MRIs) to guide clinical decision-making.
  • Administer joint and soft tissue injections as part of comprehensive treatment plans.
  • Participate in the evaluation and management of injuries, including sports-related trauma to the hip, knee, and shoulder.
  • Educate patients and families on conditions, treatment options, post-operative care, and rehabilitation plans.
  • Collaborate closely with attending surgeons and multidisciplinary team members to coordinate high-quality care.
  • Refer patients to appropriate providers as needed based on clinical findings.

Qualifications:

         Graduate of an accredited PA or NP program.

         Current Maryland licensure and national certification (NCCPA or board-certified NP).

         Licensed as a Physicians Assistant in the State of Maryland or eligible

         Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience; orthopedic or surgical experience strongly preferred. Able to first ssist in OR.

         Strong communication, teamwork, and critical thinking skills.

Working Conditions, Equipment, Physical Demands:

There is a reasonable expectation that employees in this position will be exposed to bloodborne pathogens.

Physical Demands -

Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
