\n$10,000 Sign on bonus
\nThe MRI Tech performs complex diagnostic Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) procedures, as requested by a licensed physician. The MRI Tech produces high quality diagnostic images while providing excellent patient care.
\nGeneral Functions:
\n- \n
- Assures room is ready: equipment is operable; supplies, etc. are in place before patient enters room \n
- Practices universal medical precautions \n
- Keeps patient schedule and accommodates emergency and add-on patients when requested \n
- Greets patients with courtesy and respect; introduces self; describes procedures, puts patients at ease \n
- Checks patient histories – has patient sign screening forms \n
- Respects rights of family members that are accompanying the patient \n
- Releases patient with proper follow-up information \n
- Keeps patient information confidential as per HIPAA guidelines. \n
- Handles delicate situations (fetal demise, cancerous pathology, etc.) in a supportive and empathetic manner (“good bedside manner”) \n
- Responds to requests and questions \n
- Handles upset or irate individuals and informs supervisor of difficult situations \n
- Remains aware of appointment delays and changes to schedules. Communicates to the appropriate person(s) \n
- Checks referral for appropriate study. Calls referring physician when in doubt \n
- Possesses knowledge on correct and appropriate studies to perform for the patient’s diagnosis \n
- Demonstrates working knowledge of MRI system, computer, camera and other related components of the MR system \n
- Possesses working knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and MR pathology \n
- Understands anatomy so as to direct the beam (or appropriate imaging source) in the most effective manner \n
- Monitors patient’s well being during scan; recognizes patient discomfort or medical problems and takes appropriate action \n
- Completes required exams, including extra views \n
- Sends studies to reading stations for radiologist review, if applicable \n
- Archives studies to PACS/DICOM system, if applicable. \n
- Complies with all issues related to Safety and Quality \n
- Utilizes resources efficiently and effectively \n
- Maintains safe environment as it relates to strong Magnetic Fields \n
- Addresses patient population-specific needs (clinical) \n
- Participates in Performance Improvement Activities \n
MINIMUM EDUCATION: Graduate of an accredited school of MRI
\nPREFERRED EDUCATION: Associate degree in Allied Health or bachelor’s degree and certification in another clinical imaging field
\nMINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 6 months in Magnetic Resonance Imaging with supervised clinical experience. Possesses working knowledge of cross section anatomy and MR pathology.
\nPREFERRED EXPERIENCE: 2-5 years in MRI
\nREQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: Possession of American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Radiology or (ARMRIT) registry eligible according to ACR guidelines. Must be registered as a MR Technologist within one year post graduation of accredited school. If Registered with ARRT in ionizing radiation, must possess current Texas Medical Board (TMB) license.
\nPREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: ARRT in MRI
\nREQUIRED COURSES/ COMPLETIONS (e.g., CPR): Must have active healthcare provider Basic Life Support on hire (ARC or AHA); however, must have AHA Healthcare Provider BLS within 60 days of hire.
