Summary:

Our Monroe Shine offices are growing! We are looking for an experienced [Tax Senior Fiduciary Income Tax for Administrative Trusts & Estates] Professional to manage and execute these day-to-day responsibilities for the firm including client interviews, staff supervision, research, planning, execution. Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Report to Director of Tax
  • Prepare and review complex federal and state fiduciary income tax returns (Form 1041) for administrative trusts and estates, as well as estate tax returns (Form 706), gift tax returns (Form 709), and related filings
  • Serve as the primary advisor and point of contact for clients regarding estate and trust tax matters
  • Provide tax planning and compliance guidance to trustees, executors, attorneys, and high-net-worth individuals
  • Interpret and apply trust instruments and estate documents to determine proper tax treatment and reporting
  • Conduct research on tax issues related to trust and estate taxation, including income allocation, DNI calculations, and portability elections, staying up to date on tax technical developments
  • Collaborate closely with estate planning attorneys and financial advisors to support clients' long-term financial strategies
  • Proactive communication with management regarding client solutions
  • Review and supervise the work of staff accountants and junior team members, providing technical guidance and mentorship
  • Recognize opportunities to provide additional services to existing clients
  • Ensure compliance with current IRS regulations, tax law updates, and industry best practices
  • Assist with any IRS and state tax audits or notices related to fiduciary returns
  • Utilize ProSystems Tax and Engagement software to prepare, review, and document tax workpapers.
  • Participate in client onboarding and engagement planning
  • Maintain the highest standards of client confidentiality and professional ethics.



Qualifications:

  • CPA license in good standing required
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with proven client service capabilities
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in public accounting, with a strong focus on estates and trusts
  • Demonstrated expertise in fiduciary tax return preparation (Form 1041), with experience in Forms 706 and 709 preferred
  • Proficiency with ProSystems Tax and Engagement software
  • In-depth knowledge of trust instruments, estate administration processes, and applicable tax laws
  • Experience supervising and mentoring junior tax staff or team members
  • Ability to manage multiple client engagements and deadlines efficiently
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in complex tax matters
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Masters in Taxation is a plus
