Qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability or protected veteran status./span/span/pp style="margin-bottom: 0in;" /pp style="margin: 0px;"span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: georgia, palatino; color: black;"The basic function of the Paramedic is to provide medical care and transportation for a patient at the Paramedic (EMT-P) level, within their scope of practice, as stipulated by Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) and the system Medical Director./span/pp style="margin: 0px;" /p Responsibilities: ulli style="color: black;"span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: georgia, palatino;"Provide high quality care to patients in the transport environment under the direction of the Program Medical Director and the referring and/or receiving Physician in accordance with system policies, protocols, and standards of care./span/lili style="color: black;"span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: georgia, palatino;"Autonomously evaluate critically ill or injured patients of all age groups (pediatric through adult), provide therapeutic intervention, emergency interventions, and preparation for transport./span/lili style="color: black;"span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: georgia, palatino;"Collaborate with other members of the team, including, drivers, coworkers, leadership, other healthcare partners and customers./span/lili style="color: black;"span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: georgia, palatino;"Assess for and detect changes in the status of patients and demonstrate a proactive approach to solving patient and family problems./span/lili style="color: black;"span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: georgia, palatino;"Plan organize and position equipment and supplies for use in emergency conditions before, during and after transport./span/lili style="color: black;"span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: georgia, palatino;"Maintain complete and accurate records, participate in quality assurance programs, perform data collection, and participate in any special projects./span/lili style="color: black;"span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: georgia, palatino;"Maintain clinical proficiency across all aspects of the scope of practice including care of patients with neurological emergencies, cardiac emergencies, pediatric emergencies, obstetrical emergencies, traumatic emergencies, and any other patient populations./span/lili style="color: black;"span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: georgia, palatino;"Perform all physical requirements of job in confined spaces and under adverse environmental conditions./span/lili style="color: black;"span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: georgia, palatino;"Complete transports initiated with in the time frame of the scheduled shift, understanding that completion of these transports might extend beyond normal work hours./span/lili style="color: black;"span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: georgia, palatino;"Participation in all required didactic, clinical and lab education programs and maintenance of all required certifications and licenses./span/lili style="color: black;"span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: georgia, palatino;"Complete and maintain currency in all areas of safety education as required by Edward Ambulance./span/lili style="color: black;"span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: georgia, palatino;"Demonstrate effective communication skills with all external and internal customers, including patients and their families, hospital staff, the community, other Edward Ambulance staff and administration.
