About the Role: The primary focus of the EHS Coordinator is to develop, implement, and monitor programs that create a safe and environmentally responsible workplace. This will be done through compliance and regulation, safety programs and training, incident investigation and reporting, completion of risk assessments, environmental management, and documentation and reporting.

Responsibilities: Other duties may be assigned as needed

  • Collaborates with plant management to develop, implement, and enforce safety policies in compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other applicable regulations.
  • Chairs the Plant Safety Committee and leads safety initiatives, including business plans, presentations, fishbone analysis, and other problem-solving methodologies.
  • Supports management in fostering a culture focused on problem-solving and waste reduction across the plant.
  • Actively participates in or leads cross-functional teams to drive safety and environmental improvements.
  • Pursues, shares, and implements industry and internal best practices to continuously enhance EHS performance.
  • Provides safety consultation to departments on equipment use, fire prevention, and safe work processes.
  • Conduct facility inspections to identify and address safety and health hazards with corrective or preventive actions.
  • Leads accident investigations, ensures corrective measures are implemented, and represents the company at off-site medical facilities as needed.
  • Coordinates and delivers safety orientation and training programs; maintains accurate training records and compliance documentation.
  • Maintains regular interaction with facility leadership, plant floor team members, and office staff to promote engagement and accountability.
  • Spends a minimum of one week per quarter on 2nd and 3rd shifts as scheduled to support shift-specific EHS needs.
  • Administers the facility’s workers’ compensation program, including claims reporting, return-to-work coordination, and communication with insurers and medical providers.
  • Serves as the primary contact for the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation, Third-Party Administrators (TPAs), Managed Care Organizations (MCOs), and healthcare providers.
  • Manages and maintains the on-site camera security system to ensure surveillance, system integrity, and incident documentation.
  • Oversee the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) program to ensure compliance and accessibility.
  • Coordinates pest control measures and vendor services to maintain a safe, sanitary, and compliant work environment.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Safety, Occupational Safety, and Health, or related field required.
  • Five years of related experience preferred in a manufacturing operation.
  • Extensive knowledge of environmental regulations and policies.
  • Extensive knowledge of OSHA, EPA, OBWC regulations and policies.

Physical Requirements

  • Periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to move freely throughout the plant and occasionally lift up to 20 pounds.
