Job Description
United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley (UWGLV) seeks an enthusiastic, independent, and professional individuals for an exciting AmeriCorps program in the Lehigh Valley. The Community Resource Navigator will support organizational response to individuals and families they serve. An AmeriCorps assignment is a service position that is grant funded and lasts for one year. Please consider this exciting opportunity to support our community stabilization efforts while earning a living stipend and education award. This opportunity is ideal for graduating seniors, recent graduates, gap year students, and graduate students. Ideal for majors in Social Work, Philosophy, Sociology, Philanthropy, Public Health, Child Advocacy, etc.
Community Resource Navigators will:
Work directly with families referred from sponsoring organizations.
Assist families in increasing household income.
Help increase family stability.
Improve well being of children and families.
Provide linkage to necessary basic need resources (ie. Employment, food assistance, cash assistance, medical assistance, housing, energy/utility payments, childcare, child support, transportation, SS/Disability, programs for people with disabilities, and mental health support).
Service Commitment -- Approximately 35-40 hours per week – October 2025 thru August 2026
Hours are generally Monday — Friday between 8:00 AM —4:00 PM (varies slightly by site)
Areas of Responsibility
Attend mandatory pre-service training
Administer intakes and referrals to services
Create and maintain positive relationships with individuals accessing services
Support the program through daily operational tasks

Responsibilities
The goal of the Community Resource Navigator is to meet with community members to coordinate resource referrals in the areas of housing, employment, transportation, medical, financial stability, etc.
Requirements
Able to report in person for work in Lehigh, Northampton or Carbon counties.
Able to secure clearances to work with vulnerable populations (Act 153).
Authorized to work in the US without sponsorship
Have a HS diploma or G.E.D.
18 years of age or older
