Are you passionate about providing excellent patient care and making a difference in the lives of your community? Northwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center (NWMRMC) is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse - Nursery and Special Care Nursery to join our growing healthcare team.
The Registered Nurse – Nursery and Special Care Nursery provides specialized care for neonates requiring Level I and Level II services. This includes comprehensive assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation of care, while ensuring patient safety and family-centered practices. The RN supports evidence-based care aligned with standards from AWHONN, NANN, NRP, BFHI, STABLE, and regulatory bodies.

Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver proficient, compassionate care to newborns in both well-baby and special care nursery settings (Level II)
- Apply NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) and STABLE protocols accurately in emergent and routine clinical scenarios
- Support and implement Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative practices, including the 10 Steps to Successful Breastfeeding
- Provide effective education and support to parents and families, with a focus on breastfeeding, postpartum care, and newborn safety
- Perform thorough pain assessments and implement appropriate pain management strategies for neonates
- Ensure safe administration and management of medications, with a working knowledge of neonatal pharmacology and medication safety
- Deliver culturally competent, trauma-informed care, recognizing and respecting diverse family backgrounds and experiences
- Collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team, maintaining clear communication and professionalism in high-stress, emergent situations
Qualifications:
Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN required).
Licensure/Certifications: Current unencumbered State of Mississippi or Compact State Registered Nurse Licensure.
Current BLS; NRP and STABLE within 1 year of hire.
Experience: One (1) or more years of recent Mother-Baby/Newborn Nursery/NICU experience preferred.
