Unissant is seeking a Section 508 Compliance Tester to join our team and support our client in Washington DC Metro area

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Test websites, applications, documents and digital content for compliance with section 508 and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines
  • Document accessibility issues, defects, and gaps in compliance
  • Track defects in bug tracking systems
  • Work with developers, designers, and content creators to explain accessibility findings
  • Conduct conformance reviews of deliverables prior to release
  • Develop and refine test plans, test cases, and checklists for accessibility compliance

Work Experience and Job Skills:

  • Possess expertise in 508 UI design, testing and compliance.
  • Certified to independently provide accurate Section 508 compliance test results for software and web applications by following the DHS Section 508 Compliance Application Test Process and using approved testing tools
  • Experience reviewing projects, tools and systems, and electronic content such as documents, web pages (public and non-public facing), presentations, multimedia content (video/audio), interactive maps, blogs, and certain emails for Section 508 compliance.
  • Experience working within application development for federal sector projects is desirable.
  • Knowledge of test engineering methodology.

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Software Design, Information Systems, Engineering, or other related discipline desired

Certificates, Licenses and Registrations:

  • This federal program requires the candidates to be United States Citizen
  • Any related Certification on Testing is desired
  • Must have current CBP BI or have the ability to obtain DHS CBP clearance

Communication Skills:

  • Solid ability to interface, inspire and motivate at various levels of the organization.
  • Ability to convey technical information to non-technical individuals.
  • Demonstrated experience communicating effectively across internal and external organizations.
  • Must work well in a matrixed team environment.

Travel:

  • This is a Hybrid position.

Environmental Requirements:

  • Mainly sedentary; in an office environment
  • May be required to lift up to ten (10) pounds
  • Flexible in working extended hours
