We are seeking an engaged and experienced General Mechanic (Hotel Engineer) to join our Engineering Team in providing exceptional customer service and exceptional experiences to our guests
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Ability to build ensure professional and informative interactions with all guests and staff members alike
Precisely and effectively complete all allocated work orders every day or report inadequate orders to the Director for rescheduling
Comply with Hotel processes to effectively perform all maintenance, installation, or repair as needed
Experienced with Painting, Spackle, Light plumbing and electrical
Ensure all hotel equipment is maintained and repaired as needed for full functionality
Follow the most recent state and government legislative codes, laws, and prerequisites
Identifying issues, creating or providing solutions, take actions to ensure that guest- related issues are resolved promptly once received, and provide the best possible outcome for guest satisfaction
Ensure daily before shift ends to fill out engineering reports to record all that was completed on your shift or pass-on information for the next shift
Ensuring all job requests from all areas of the hotel are responded to in a timely and effective manner.
Collaborate with different departments like carpenter, electricians, overnight engineers, painter’s, outsourced contractors in finalizing, changing, altering, remodeling, fixing any area of the Hotel
Follow all safety guidelines of a fire safety director in the case of an emergencies
Ensure FSD logbooks are always up to date with current activities of the hotel
In case of emergencies, communicate with the fire department and monitor fire command station
Make announcements to the building in case of false alarms, tests or real emergencies as a FSD
Ensure boiler cleaning logs are always up to date and cleaned as necessary according to boiler guidelines
Precisely record equipment readings, meter readings and keep up exact logs in a clear and legible way
Ensure that guest room preventative maintenance is done according to procedures set forth by the Chief engineer whether weekly, monthly, or quarterly
Ensure guest room and public area filters are changed frequently as instructed by the Director
Job Requirements
Previous hotel engineering experience preferred
At least 2 years of Hotel Engineering experience, preferably in a New York City Hotel
Strong working knowledge mechanical systems, painting/spackling light plumbing and light electrical
Great communication skills, professional demeanor and appearance
Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, and concentrate on detail in a fast-paced work environment
Must be able to follow basic safety procedures and precautions due to physical risks
Use ladders, appropriate engineering tools (manual and electric), work at higher elevations
Demonstrates interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
Able to work in a team environment and welcome feedback and direction
Capable of standing for prolonged periods of time
Ability to frequently reach, bend, stoop, climb up and down stairs, walk, and carry multiple objects
Flexible schedule to include day shift, night shift, weekends and holidays
Preferred Qualifications
Local candidates only
U.S. Citizenship/Work Authorization required
2-3 years of experience as an engineer working in the service industry
FSD Certification a plus
Verbal and Written communication skills
Be able to speak, write and understand the primary language of the workplace
Ability to lift, push or pull 50 pounds
Proficiency in MS Office and possess basic computer skills
Be able to work Flexible shift if needed
Education:
High school or equivalent (Required)
2 Year/ 4 Year Degree from an accredited College/University (Preferred)
License/Certification:
Relevant Advanced trainings and certifications preferred
FSD certification
