Responsibilities:
- Represent clients in a wide range of criminal defense matters, including misdemeanors and felonies.
- Prepare and argue motions, conduct legal research, and draft pleadings.
- Appear in court for arraignments, hearings, plea negotiations, and trials.
- Conduct client interviews and maintain consistent, clear communication throughout each case.
- Analyze case law, statutes, discovery, and evidence to formulate strong defense strategies.
- Negotiate plea agreements with prosecutors when in the best interest of the client.
- Assist with jury selection, prepare witnesses, and conduct trial advocacy.
- Travel to courts across Alabama to represent clients in various jurisdictions as needed.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
- Active license to practice law in Alabama and in good standing with the Alabama State Bar.
- Minimum of 2–4 years of experience practicing law, in criminal defense.
- Strong litigation, negotiation, and courtroom advocacy skills.
- Self-motivated, highly organized, and able to manage a demanding caseload independently.
- Exceptional legal research, writing, and communication skills.
- Passionate about criminal defense and committed to protecting the rights of the accused.
- Willingness to travel statewide for court appearances, client meetings, and hearings.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Starting Salary: $65,000–$80,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
- Gas reimbursement provided for work-related travel across Alabama.
