(Chicago Hybrid) The position of Internal Communications Specialist is a pivotal role within the organization in ensuring seamless communication with our staff. The specialist will act as a bridge between leadership and staff, cultivating a culture of transparency, engagement, and collaboration. The role involves crafting and delivering clear, consistent, and compelling messages that align with the organization’s values, goals, and strategy while also addressing employee concerns and fostering a sense of community. This position is based in our Chicago headquarters, located in downtown Chicago.

We are seeking an individual with a Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Organizational Development, or a related field and equivalent experience. A minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience in internal communications, public relations, employee engagement, or a related role is required.

Essential responsibilities include:

Internal Communications Content Creation and Management:

  • Write, edit, and distribute a variety of internal communications, including emails, intranet updates, TV Displays, and presentations.
  • Ensure all communications maintain a consistent tone and voice reflective of the company’s culture and values.
  • Work closely with leadership to ensure timely, transparent, and empathetic messaging during key moments.

Oversight & Management of Intranet:

  • Support the Internal Communications strategy by managing the US and Global Intranet, including oversight of all department sites.
  • Ensure the intranet serves as an effective communication tool by maintaining up-to-date content, user-friendly navigation, and accessibility.
  • Monitor and analyze intranet usage metrics to identify areas for improvement and measure effectiveness.

Global Meetings Coordination and Planning:

  • Coordinate and manage all aspects of global meetings, including planning, scheduling, logistics, and communications
  • Develop communication materials and presentations for global meetings.
  • Facilitate effective and engaging global meetings by incorporating innovative practices and tools to enhance participation and outcomes.

Operational Excellence, Innovation & Continuous Improvement:

  • Leverage reports and technology to track the reach and effectiveness of internal communications efforts.
  • Stay informed of emerging trends and tools in the field of internal communications to enhance the organization’s capabilities.
  • Document standard operating procedures to ensure internal communications stakeholders have the tools and resources they need to be successful.

Technical & Individual Skills:

  • Ability to craft clear, concise, and compelling messages tailored to diverse audiences
  • Proven track record in crafting and delivering effective communication strategies within a corporate or non-profit setting.
  • Proficiency in aligning communication efforts with organizational goals and adapting to evolving needs
  • Strong capacity to build trust and rapport with employees and leadership at all levels (including colleagues in other countries)
  • Familiarity with intranet tools, collaboration platforms (e.g., SharePoint, Microsoft Teams), and analytics software
  • Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
  • Creative and innovative mindset to drive engagement through new communication approaches
  • Empathy and cultural awareness to address diverse employee needs effectively
  • Adaptability and resilience under pressure, particularly in high-stakes or crisis scenarios
  • Familiarity with Jewish and Christian faith traditions.
