Job Summary:

The Civil Engineer plays a crucial role in the planning, design, and execution of construction projects, ensuring that all aspects adhere to regulatory standards, site demands, and meet client specifications. This position involves collaborating with architects, project managers, the construction team, and other engineering professionals to develop efficient, safe, and sustainable infrastructure solutions. The Civil Engineer will be responsible for conducting site assessments, preparing technical drawings and specifications, and overseeing elements of the construction process to ensure compliance with design intent and quality standards. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, along with a solid understanding of civil engineering principles and practices. Duties/ Responsibilities:

  • Develop detailed engineering designs and plans for infrastructure projects, such as roads, bridges, drainage systems, and water supply systems

  • Utilize engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GIS, or similar) to create accurate drawings and models

  • Conduct thorough site visits and surveys to gather data on existing conditions, topography, and environmental factors impacting the project

  • Analyze site data to inform design decisions and ensure feasibility

  • Prepare and review technical reports, specifications, and documentation required for project approvals and regulatory compliance

  • Ensure that all documentation adheres to industry standards and local regulations

  • Collaborate with project managers to establish project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation plans

  • Monitor project progress, identifying potential issues and implementing corrective actions to ensure timely completion

  • Oversee construction activities to ensure compliance with engineering designs, safety standards, and quality control measures

  • Conduct inspections and audits of construction sites to verify adherence to design specifications and regulatory requirements

  • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including architects, landscape architects, environmental engineers, surveyors, and construction personnel, to facilitate effective project coordination

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for engineering-related inquiries from clients, stakeholders, and team members

  • Identify and resolve engineering challenges that arise during the design and construction phases, proposing innovative solutions to minimize delays and cost overruns

  • Communicate regularly with clients to understand their needs, provide project updates, and address any concerns related to engineering design or construction processes

  • Stay updated on industry trends, advancements in civil engineering technology, and changes in regulations to continuously enhance skills and knowledge

  • Other duties as assigned


Education/Certifications/Licenses

  • Education

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field

    • Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field is preferred

  • Certifications

    • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) is a plus

  • Licenses

    • Professional Engineering License


Required Experience/Skills/Abilities

  • Strong ability to use CAD and civil engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, and GIS) to produce accurate drawings, plans, and models

  • In-depth knowledge of civil engineering principles, including structural, geotechnical, environmental, and hydrological concepts

  • Familiarity with local, state, and federal regulations and building codes to ensure all projects are compliant and up to standard

  • Skilled in interpreting topographical and survey data to assess feasibility and inform design and construction decisions

  • Strong analytical abilities to evaluate complex design requirements and develop efficient and effective solutions

  • High degree of accuracy to create and review precise technical drawings, specifications, and documentation

  • Capacity to adjust to changes in project scope, unforeseen issues, and last-minute design modifications while remaining solution-focused

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to convey complex technical information to clients, contractors, and team members

  • Strong organizational skills to prioritize tasks effectively and manage multiple projects within deadlines

  • Willingness to explore new methods, tools, and practices that can enhance design efficiency and project outcomes
