pMedical Terminology test/p

pHigh School diploma or GED/p
pMeets uone/u of the following:/p
pGraduate of a formal training program in medical reception, an equivalent program, or a customer service program/p
pTwo years experience as a medical receptionist/p
pTwo years experience in a customer service position/p
pOne year experience using data look-up and data entry functions on a mainframe or PC based computer system/p
pOne year customer service experience either via telephone or in-person within the last five years/p
pDemonstrated ability to organize work under pressure/p
pDemonstrated ability to function with multiple priorities and interruptions/p
pExcellent oral communication skills/p
pExcellent written communication skills/p
pnbsp;/p
pstrongPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:/strong/p
pAbility to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time. Oral and written communications with customers requires adequate speech, vision, and hearing. Proficiency in English is required. Proficiency in other languages may be required. Use of a telephone and computer terminal also requires adequate hand writing and manual dexterity skills./p

This position is a vital point of contact for a patient entering the HPMG Clinics. This position facilitates the process of scheduling appointments and has responsibility for accurate collection of current financial and demographic information. This position directly impacts revenue collection for the medical group./p

pCheck-in and Co-pay Administration/p
p style="margin-left:0.75in;"a. Check in patients in an accurate and professional manner/p
p style="margin-left:0.75in;"b. Identify and accurately collect co-pays or appropriate fees/p
pUse computer-based system to verify patient information/p
pUnderstand and communicate benefit changes to members, or refer to appropriate resource/p
pCommunicate wait times in a diplomatic manner/p
pDirect patients to the appropriate care area/p
pPrepare reconciliation report/p
pProvide patients with appropriate forms, questionnaires, etc./p
pnbsp;/p
pComputerized Appointment Scheduling for appointments/p
pSchedule appointments in an accurate and timely manner according to Advanced Access principles/p
pMaintain knowledge of appointment scheduling practices/p
pMaintain knowledge of appointment scheduling policies and procedures/p
pnbsp;/p
pRegistration and Verification/p
p style="margin-left:0.75in;"a. Complete the registration process, including reviewing the registration information for completeness and accuracy and obtain further information, if necessary/p
p style="margin-left:0.75in;"b. Verify insurance eligibility, if necessary/p
pc. Register patients in an accurate, efficient, and timely manner/p
p style="margin-left:1in;"d. Identify appropriate account type, e.g., Workers compensation, Motor Vehicle Accidents, etc./p

pSpecialty Appointment Coordination/p
pProvide patient with information required to schedule specialty appointments/p
pnbsp;/p
pFacilitate timely and accurate flow of communication within the clinic/p
pAnswer telephone and respond appropriately to the caller/p
pTake and relay messages requiring follow-up to appropriate individuals/p
pPrepare records and materials for new patient appointments/p
pAssist with the clerical duties of the clinic, e.g., faxing information, making copies, etc./p

pMaintain open communication with Appointment Center to ensure patient and provider needs are met/p
pCoordinate schedule templates/p
pCoordinate emergency schedule changes/p
pCoordinate schedule holds consistent with Advanced Access principles/p
pCoordinate schedules regarding provider vacation, rounding, and other out of clinic changes/p
