Then you may be a perfect fit for our phlebotomist role in our lab at UPMC Horizon-Shenango Valley/spanspan/span/p p class="MsoNormal"bspanUPMC Horizon-Shenango Valley is looking to hire a regular part-time Phlebotomist for mainly rotating mid and afternoon shifts with occasional day and midnight shifts scheduled as needed, no on-call.  This position will work rotating weekends and holidays. Travel to support UPMC Horizon- Greenville would be required for this position./span/bspan/span/p p class="MsoNormal"spanCandidates with phlebotomy experience or education are encouraged to apply!/span/p p class="MsoNormal"brbResponsibilities:/b/p ul liInteract with all laboratory customers courteously and professionally; responds to telephone inquiries in a timely manner./li liFollowing proper patient identification procedures, procures appropriate blood specimens by venipuncture, heel stick and fingerstick. As required, instructs patients on the collection procedures for laboratory specimens that are obtained by the patient, and may collect samples other than blood./li liDemonstrates dependability, reliability, and independent judgment recognizing priorities to accommodate department needs and acceptance of appropriate authority./li liSpecimen collection may be performed at off-site locations. Transports specimens from on- and off-site collection areas to the appropriate section of the laboratory following established safety procedures./li liAdhere to established laboratory and hospital policies in areas of procedures, methods, quality control, quality assurance, safety, including hand hygiene techniques and proper isolation precautions., compliance and personnel policies./li liAs required, performs related clerical duties, and utilizes various computer functions to accurately enter demographic information into the information system(s), enters test orders, receives, cancels, charges, and credits tests, while ascertaining adequacy of patient information as well as sample identity./li liTrains and orients new employees, students and residents, as applicable and as assigned./li liInform technical staff, supervisory personnel and/or pathologists of any unusual or problematic incidents./li liMay also perform arterial puncture following strict collection and post collection guidelines./li liMonitors and maintains supplies for those functions for which the position is responsible; uses materials and reagents in a cost-effective manner./li /ulbr ul liHigh school diploma or equivalent is required./li liCertification from an accredited Phlebotomy or Medical Assistant program is preferred./li liMinimum 6 months experience performing phlebotomy is preferred./li liMedical terminology knowledge and laboratory information system experience preferred.brbrbLicensure, Certifications, and Clearances:/bbrPhlebotomy Technician (PBT(ASCP)) or equivalent certification preferred.brbr/li liAct 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal/li liAct 33 with renewal/li liAct 34 with renewal/li liAct 73 FBI Clearance with renewal/li /ul pbrbUPMC is an Equal Opportunity Employer/Disability/Veteran/b/p
