Phlebotomist, Inpatient - Part time

The role also includes clerical and courier responsibilities under the supervision of medical technologists. The shift runs fromspan /span/spanstrong3PM–1AM/strongspanspan /spanwithspan /span/spanstrongrotating weekend and holiday coverage/strongspan. While phlebotomy experience is not required, it isspan /span/spanstrongstrongly preferred/strongspan, along with priorspan /span/spanstronghealthcare experience/strongspan./span/b/p pb/b/p pstrongKey Responsibilities:/strong/p ul liProvide courteous and professional service to all laboratory customers, including timely phone support./li liCollect blood specimens via venipuncture, heelstick, or fingerstick, and instruct patients on self-collection procedures when needed./li liTransport specimens safely from on- and off-site locations to the lab./li liFollow all hospital and lab policies related to safety, hygiene, quality control, and compliance./li liPerform clerical and computer tasks such as entering patient data, test orders, and managing sample information./li liTrain and orient new staff, students, or residents as assigned./li liNotify technical staff or supervisors of any unusual incidents./li liMay perform arterial punctures following strict guidelines./li liMonitor and maintain supplies, using materials cost-effectively./li liDemonstrate reliability, sound judgment, and adaptability to department needs./li /ul p/pbr ul liHigh school diploma or equivalentspan /spanstrongrequired/strong/li liCertification from an accredited Phlebotomy or Medical Assistant programspan /spanstrongpreferred/strong/li liMinimum 6 months of phlebotomy experiencespan /spanstrongpreferred/strong/li liKnowledge of medical terminology and experience with laboratory information systemsspan /spanstrongpreferred/strong/li /ul pstrongLicensure, Certifications, and Clearances:/strong/p ul liPhlebotomy Technician certification (PBT(ASCP)) or equivalentspan /spanstrongpreferred/strong/li liAct 31 Child Abuse Reporting /li liAct 33 /li liAct 34 /li liAct 73 FBI Clearance/li /ul hr pstrongUPMC is an Equal Opportunity Employer: Disability/Veteran/strong/p
